田纳西.威廉斯的《欲望号街车》展现了女主人公布兰奇在面对残酷现实时,人生所经历的"沉沦—救赎—绝望"的过程。布兰奇的悲剧背后有许许多多的故事,前往新奥尔良寻找妹妹斯蒂拉是布兰奇进行自我救赎的开始,她饱含着希望却最终成为了男权社会中扭曲欲望的殉葬品,无力的自我救赎只能将她推入更绝望的深渊。
Tennessee Williams＇ s A Streetcar Named Desire presents Blanche＇ s life experiences ＂degeneration - salvation- despair＂ when facing the severe reality. The various reasons and elements lead to the ＂ changes＂ of Blanche. Moving to New Oreland is an attempt of pursuing new life for Blanche. She has chances to achieve the goal, however, she cannot change her values on men and herself, she cannot get rid of the ＂protection＂ of men. Blanche is the tragedy of the society which is ruled by males. Obviously, this useless self - salvation cannot change anything in her terrible life. From the analysis of Blanche＇ s story, females can realize what the value is as a woman, and how to gain dignity in a right way.
