摘要
在系统功能语法的情态隐喻框架内对《雷雨》中的汉英情态隐喻进行了对比分析。讨论主要在向度、价值、归一度和类型等四个维度上展开。研究结果显示,英语文本在情态隐喻的各个方面都比汉语文本的情态意义强烈,都更鲜明和直观地展示了说话者的意见和态度。这与汉语简洁、模糊,英语繁冗、清晰的语言特征,以及汉语重意合,英语重形合有关,也与英语文化崇尚的自我中心主义和直线形思维模式,汉语文化注重的阴阳互补、中庸之道以及螺旋式思维习惯有密切关联。
This paper compares the modality metaphors in the English version of Thunderstorm with the original within the modality metaphor framework in systemic - functional grammar. Based on the four parameters of orientation, value, polarity and type, the study reveals that the English version is more strong in every modality aspect, more direct in expressing speaker＇ s personal opinions. This is correlated with the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the two meaning, relying pending more on parataxis, while languages. Chinese is simple in structure and vague in English is complicated in wording and apparent in meaning, demore on hypotaxis. Linear thought pattern is popular in the West, while Chinese people prefer spiral thought model.
