《了不起的盖茨比》这部小说中两个主要女性黛西与乔丹只关注"人生姿态"。她们感情冷漠,只关心自己的魅力,然而忽略了人生的品质。对黛西与乔丹"人生姿态"的分析中可以探究菲茨·杰拉德对美国女性的矛盾态度:他对女人既有极其浪漫的"崇拜",同时又怀有极深的不信任感。
Two major females in the novel The Great Gatsby, Daisy and Jordan, only pay attention to ＂life gestures＂ . They are emotionally frigid and just care for their own charms, and yet neglect the quality of living. Fitzgerald＇ s contradictory attitude toward American women can be probed form his analysis of the ＂life gestures＂ of Daisy and Jordan ： he combines an extreme romantic ＂ worship＂ of them with an equally extreme distrust of them.
