Challenges of CO_2 mitigation for chemical engineering

摘要 气候变化和CO2减排问题是社会可持续发展所面临的一个巨大挑战。化学工程学科在CO2减排和可持续发展的背景之下面临着新的发展机遇及选择。对工业而言,CO2减排的根本途径是对现有能源系统的改造,这也不同程度地对化学工程学科提出了要求。对CO2不同减排方式的分析表明:对于化工行业,在可持续发展战略的整体框架之下考虑成本有效的减排,其主要减排方式可分为提高能效、向低含碳量燃料转变、开发核能和可再生能源、对CO2进行捕获和封存等,每一种方式都在很大程度上要求化学工程师做出贡献。 The issues of climate change and CO2 mitigation are great challenges to sustainable development, which are bringing new opportunities to the chemical engineering field. For industrial processes, the basic approach to CO2 mitigation is to improve current energy systems. Various CO2 mitigation methods were studied to meet the requirements of sustainable development for the chemical industry. Analyses show that for the chemical industry the main CO2 mitigation methods include energy efficiency improvements, shifts to low-carbon fuels, nuclear and renewable energy sources, and carbon capture and sequestration. Chemical engineers should play an important role in implementing these options in cost-effective processes.
