摘要
寻找猪八戒形象的前身须从早期西游取经故事而不是从"猪"的外形特征入手。从西游取经故事中寻找猪八戒的前身,可以发现猪八戒形象的前身就是《取经诗话》中的作为驴的化身的"小行者",即"驴行者"。猪八戒"猪"的形象的前身则是"小行者"所化之"驴"。随着取经故事的进一步发展,该形象的外形发生了由驴到猪的转变。导致此转变发生的原因在于,取经故事作为佛教的宣教作品,具有鲜明的宣教意图。正是这一宣教意图,赋予了这个形象具有精怪的身份和好色的特点,而中国历史文化上的"猪"正具有这样的特点,"驴"却不具备这两方面的特点。所以,"猪"最后取代"驴",产生了"猪八戒"这一形象。
The predecessor of Zhu Bajie's image should probe from the previous series of the fable of journey to the West rather than the external feature of the "pig". From the story of journey to the west , we may know that the antecedent of Zhu Bajie's image comes from the little trip master, which, so-called trip-master donkey in Qujing Shihua, transformed from donkey in . The antecedent of Zhu bajie's image of the pig was the donkey of little trip-master. Due to the demand of the story, the external image of trip-master changed from the donkey to the pig. The reason of the change is that the story needs the image with a monster identity and amorously feature, which the pig is characteristic of all of these features in Chinese traditional culture, rather than the donkey. It is this reason that the image of Zhu bajie substitutes for the image of the donkey.
