女性主义不失为一个研究小说《磨砺》很好的切入点。小说的女主人公罗莎蒙德一系列离经叛道的思想与行为——将男性边缘化,使其成为女性的"第二性"与"他者"以及用母爱取代性爱作为其精神独立的主要途径——蕴涵了德拉布尔独特的女性主义思想,表明了她既不同于传统女性又有别于激进女性主义者,在倡导女性独立的同时又强调做母亲的责任。
It is a good point to study Magaret Drabble＇ s novel The Millstone. The heroine of the novel Rosamund＇ s eccentric thoughts and behaviors -choosing to marginalize males, making them be the second sex and ＂the other＂ of the female and use maternity to replace sexual life to be the strong support of her spiritual life - convince us that Margaret Drabble is a feminist different from the traditional females and at the same time differs herself from the radical feminist. She emphasizes the independence of the female as well as the responsibility of mothers.
