费孝通先生提出的"中华民族多元一体"、"文化自觉"、"各美其美,美人之美,美美与共,天下大同"等极具价值的思想,以及学以致用,"志在富民",跟踪现实,从实求知的治学思想和治学方法,受到了国内外学界的高度重视和好评,并产生了深刻而广泛的影响。费孝通以他的学术成就和人格魅力,成为一代学人的楷模。
Fei Xiaotong, a great sociologist, anthropologist, and a famous social activist, set a good example for his generations of scholars with his remarkable academic achievements and charming personality. Fei＇s theoretical contributions mainly include the idea of the Chinese nation as a multivariate and organic whole, the idea of cultural self-consciousness, and the idea that every nation has its own advantages and disadvantages, nations should learn from each other, and nations should live in harmony with one another to create a homogeneous world. Besides these ideas, Fei also put forward the ideas of applying theory to practice to benefit the broad masses and seeking knowledge by keeping abreast of the changing realities. His theories and ideas, profound and influential, were well acclaimed among scholars at home and abroad.
