诺曼·梅勒的小说《裸者与死者》是一部集现实主义写作手法和自然主义、神秘主义、存在主义色彩于一身,以战争为背景同时又超出了传统战争小说框架,带有一定寓言性与深刻政治思想的战争小说。它就像一个五光十色的多棱镜,折射着二战后的美国社会,预示着国家、民族的未来。作为美国战后战争文学中最为重要和最为深刻的作品之一,其主题揭示了战争催化了的极权主义势力正威胁着美国以及人类社会的民主与自由,如果人们不采取积极的措施加以遏制,将必然造成严重的后果。
Norman Mailer＇s the Naked and the Dead is a novel of war. The novel is written with various techniques such as realism, naturalism,mysticism, and existentialism. It is based on but also beyond the war background. It reflects the American society after the world war and Predicts its future. The themes of the novel is that the war promotes the totalitarianism in the aspect of freedom and democracy. If we do not take some action, we have to face more dreadful disaster.
