摘要
美国史丹福大学胡佛研究所收藏有包括蒋宋孔陈等国民政府最高领导人日记和档案、多位国民政府财经外交要员的私人存档,还包括大量与近代中国密切相关的来华外籍人士文件。这些特殊的史料有助于拓宽中华民国史乃至整个近代中国史的研究领域并深化研究层次,有助于对这段历史做出多面向、多层次阐释。该所目前正在推动中国国民党文献整理项目,也值得学界关注。
The unique archival collections of the Hoover Institution on modern Chinese history include immense private source materials of the top leaders of the Nationalist Government. There is also a huge body of personal documents of the Westerners who are closely related to the history of Nationalist China before 1949. These special historical materials and documents provide us with in-depth and innovative perspectives of modern Chinese history, and allow scholars to reevaluate and reinterpret the historical significance of modern China.
