摘要
科举学以其求真的学术品格、开放的学科体系,在保存历史、认知规律和阐释文化中,给人以新的启迪与借鉴。科举学研究表明:科举时代的教育并非只有"应试教育"而无"素质教育",我们应保存和重构完整的教育史;科举考试的某些规律至今仍发挥潜在作用,值得深入探索与观照;科举考试虽产生考试崇拜的负面影响,但它所蕴含的公平竞争的人文价值,足可与古代奥林匹克体育竞技精神、当代市场经济的自由竞争精神相媲美。
With its academic quality of seeking truths and its open disciplinary system, the study of imperial examination (IE) continues to provide us with enlightenment and reference in our efforts to preserve history, discover laws of cognition, and interpret cultural phenomena. Research on IE shows that the education during IE. times was not completely exam-oriented without any quality-oriented education. This paper argues that we should preserve and reconstruct a complete educational history. Some of roles of IE. are still playing an implicit role today and they are worthy of further exploration and comparison. Although IE did bring about the negative influence of examination worship, its humanistic value of fair competition is comparable to the athletic spirit of ancient Olympic Games and the ideology of free competition of contemporary market economy.
