摘要
文章以格赖斯的合作原则为基点对英语幽默进行了实例分析和理论阐释。首先通过辨析"运用"、"偏离"和"违反"三个词,阐明幽默是由于说话人违反了合作原则而产生的。在随后的分析和阐释中,作者指出幽默的本质特性———乖讹性决定了幽默是一种不受格赖斯合作原则约束的非真诚交际模式。幽默言语在违反格赖斯合作原则的同时,却遵守了另外一组适用于非真诚交际模式的"幽默合作原则",从而能够促进人们成功交际。
The present paper is a CP-based analysis of English humor. With a comparison of the three terms adopted to describe the relation between humor production and CP, namely, exploitation, deviation and violation, the author proves that humor results from the speakers＂ violation of CP in their conversation. Next a paradox ensued from the violation is put under scrutiny, namely, how can humor be considered a successful means of communication despite its violation of CP- the very principle that is supposed to ensure successful communication.9 The answer proposed in the present paper is that verbal humor, as a mode of Non-Bona-Fide communication that is incongruous by nature, follows a set of modified CP instead of the original CP. The reason why humor violates Grice＇s CP and facilitates communication at the same time is that Grice＇s CP loses its binding force in situation other than Bona-Fide mode of communication.
