Objective To explore the effect of Pygmalion on improving the compliance of breathing exercises for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Method Divide 105 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease into observation group (n= 46) and control group (n = 59) according to the even or odd end numbers of their hospitalizing dates. Give control group routine breathing function exercises. Give observation group the guidance of Pygmalion effect on breathing exercises, Observe the average lasting time of exercise for once in hospital, breathing rates per minute during exercise and the persistence rate of breathing exercises 1 month after discharge, Result There is significant difference in the result: the average exercise lasting time for once in hospital is longer, breathing times per minute during exercise is less, persistence rate of breathing exercises 1 month after discharge is higher in observation group than in control group. Conclusion The application of Pygmalion effect can improve the compliance of breathing exercises for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
