摘要
英语立法语言在其长期发展的过程中形成了自己独特的语体特征。在英语立法语言中,未使用规范的书面语,古词、外来词的出现频率较高,且大量使用助动词和情态动词,但却很少使用代词和形容词,表意庄严、正式。在句法结构上,多用陈述句和完整句,大量使用长句,表意较完整、周密。
Legislative English has developed unique characteristics during its long evolution. Normative written words, loan words and words from Old English are frequently used; auxiliaries and modal verbs are often used while pronouns and adjectives are seldom employed, expressing stately and formal connotation. Assertive sentences, complete sentences and long sentences are widely used, expressing thorough and complete meaning.
