The denitrifying phosphorous removal process, the simultaneous removal of nitrogen and phosphorous that can be achieved by using the same substrate, is a method with practical prospect for municipal sewage treatment. The principle of the denitrifying phosphorous removal process is introduced, the influencing factors such as SRT, mass concentration of NO2-and NO3^-, hydraulic retention time, dissolved oxygen, volumetric ratio of aerobic and anoxic reactors, PH value and PHB and so on are discussed and provide the basis for modeling, experimental study and practical application of the denitrifying phosphorous removal process.
