The global seismicity during the 3rd quarter of the year 1989 is of medium level.After the occurrence of the Macquarie Island earthquake,the frequencies of earthquake increased in the whole world.The largest earthquake occurred in the sea area of Alaska.A strong earth- quake swarm of magnitude 6 or over occurred in Ethiopia.Strong earthquakes successively occurred on the eastern and western parts of the Eurasian belt.
