Objective: To observe and analyse the change of blood zinc, copper, iron, calcium, magnesium level in microsomia children. Methods: Blood zinc (Zn) , copper (Cu) , iron (Fe) , calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) of 88 children with short stature were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Results: The incidence of the microsomia children with lowered blood Zn, Cu, Fe and Ca was 55. 68%, 28. 41%, 51.14% and 71.59% respectively, while blood Mg values of all the cases were normal, there was no case which five blood elements were higher than the normal range. The highest incidence of lowered blood Zn, Cu, Fe was in the cases with familial short stature, growth hormone deficiency and other short stature (including constitutional delay of growth, etc) respectively, while the incidence of lowered blood Ca was no significant differenceamong three groups. Conclusion: As there were lack of Zn, Cu, Fe and Ca in the microsomia children on some extent, and the incidence of lowered blood Zn, Cu, Fe was not same in the cases with various cause, Zn, Cu, Fe and Ca should be supplemented in microsomia children under doctor's instructions.
