摘要
本文从微观的角度对名物化隐喻对法律英语语体的构建做语篇功能分析,论证了名物化隐喻的使用是英语书面语和正式语体的主要特征。正确使用名物化隐喻能帮助人们简练、精确、理性地表达自己的意思。
The Characteristics of legal English style are composed of concision, formality, objectiveness, delicacy and coherence. According to Functional Linguistics, nominalization of metaphor plays a very important role in the style. The discourse functions of nominalization are discussed in legal language from micro perspective in the paper and it concludes that nominalization is a very important characteristic in literal and formal style of legal English. Properly using nominalization can help us to express our ideas concisely, delicately and rationally.
