摘要
文章试从整个图书馆职业的视角,分析了美国图书馆职业对图书馆学教育质量和发展方向实施控制的机制,重点分析了其中的资质鉴定制度及其存在的问题。论文指出,美国ALA的专业资质鉴定制度与职业资格准入制度及其他面向整个职业团体的交流平台遥相呼应成为图书馆学教育质量的监控体系,这一体系促使图书馆学教育不断改进和提高,不断顺应社会环境和整个图书馆职业的需求。尽管ALA的专业资质鉴定制度目前存在着一些问题、面临来自各方的挑战,但总的来说,这种质量监控程序不会消失,以类似制度指导、监控图书馆学教育应是历史发展的必然。
From the viewpoint of whole library profession, the paper gives an in--depth analysis of how American library profession controls the quality and direction of library education through accreditation and a number of other means. It concludes that such quality control mechanisms have boosted American library science education as well as the library profession as a whole, although they are not without problems. It argues that these mechanisms will not disappear; they have been and will remain the library profession' s inexorable way of quality control over its education sector.
