摘要
关之是上海近代史上一位重要人物,他曾任职的公共租界会审公是一个极其重要的机构,是东西方之间法律制度和司法、审判习惯差异的集中体现。关之任公共公会审官前后十余年,与驻沪领事团和公共租界工部局斡旋,为挽回国家主权而不懈努力。为谋求华人的权益,他与租界外国人进行了针锋相对的斗争,成为上海商民利益的“保护神”。
Guan Jiongzhi (1879-1942) was an important role in modern Shanghai history. The Mixed Court of International Settlement of Shanghai is an extremely important organization, it is the concentrated reflection of the difference between East and West such as legal system, custom of justice. As the senior magistrate more than ten years, Guan Jiongzhi strove with Shanghai consular body and the Municipal Council, and carried on untiring efforts in order to retrieve sovereignty of China. In order to seek Shanghai people’s whole rights and interests, he had struggled tit for tat with foreigners in the International Settlement of Shanghai, became the“ patron saint” of interests of Shanghai merchants and people.
