Samuel Huntington's “The Clash of Civilizations”, a focus of studies by relevant scholars, typically represents the pursuit of the cultural identity of the intellectuals in the process of globalization and the “awareness of unexpected development” related to their survival interests, which from another angle reflects the definite necessity of cross-civilization studies. To avoid trapping in the “clash of civilizations” in “the virtual confrontation” caused by the crisis of cultural identity in the process of globalization, there should be cross-civilization studies and dialogue by the academia, and Chinese scholars engaging in comparative studies are capable of doing it and also should bear the responsibility for it.
