光子学（ｐｈｏｔｏｎｉｃｓ）是一门与电子学（ｅ１ｅｃｔｒｏｎｉｃｓ）平行的科学．简述电产学和光子学的诞生和发展，重点介绍光纤通信、光纤、光计算、光盘和集成光路的状况、作用和发展前景，强调了光子学的战略地位．
Photonics is a science parallel to electronics. In this paper, the birth and progress of pho- tonics and electronics are reviewed briefly. Especially, the status, significance and prospects of optical fiber communication, optical fibers, optical computing, optical disks and integrated optical circuits are introduced, with the emphasis on the strategic position of photonics.
