摘要
关于"文化"的内涵外延,众说纷纭.本文只从中国历史词源角度对"文""化"两字的字词含义作一番考察,解释"文化"二字出现的历史背景及其最初含义.我们考察"文化"一词在语言发展中曾用来指称过什么,考量这些事物的特殊属性,归纳出"文化"的内涵,给"文化"下一个既符合历史又具有科学性的定义.
Culture(Wen-Hua)” varies in terms of its definitions and connotations. This paper gives an etymological study of “Wen——Hua” and traces its original meaning and development. It also expounds its implications and aims at a correct and scientific definition.
