摘要
理解与表达是翻译过程的两个阶段。语境对翻译理解的重要作用已经受到广泛的关注 ,并有不少独到的分析和论证 ;而语境对翻译表达所起的作用却没有引起足够的重视。译者的意图、现时的社会背景、译文的审美规范和译文读者的接受能力等诸多语境因素 。
Context is important in translation, both for comprehension of the source text and expression of the target text. However, the significance of context to expression in translation has not been given adequate attention. The present paper tries to illustrate in which way contextual factors, for example the translator's intention, present social background, linguistic norms of the target language as well as the intended readership, determine and limit the choices that the translator makes in the course of expression in translation.
