摘要
语法教学在英语教学活动中的作用一直是语言学家和教师们辩论的焦点。有的语言学家和教师公开排斥语法教学在外语教学中的地位,反对在任何教学阶段使用语法教学。他们认为,只要在课堂上提供有意义的交际活动,语法就会被学习者主动习得。但有些语言学家认为,语法教学是语言学习所必需的,是使学习者达到熟练掌握语言的一个重要手段。面对这样的争议,作为英语教师,我们应该重新考虑语法教学在语言交际以及外语课堂中的地位和作用。
Grammar teaching has always been the focus of the discussion of linguists and teachers. Some linguists and teachers deny the role of grammar teaching in college English openly, and oppose using grammar teaching in any stage of teaching. They think that grammar can be acquired actively by the learners as long as some instructive and communicative activities are offered in the class. While some other linguists believe that grammar teaching is of great necessity for language learning. It is an important means for language learners to grasp a language skillfully. Facing such controversy, as English teachers, we should reconsider the role and function of grammar teaching in language communication and foreign language teaching.
