南非作家库切的小说《等待野蛮人》讲述了一段所谓"文明"与"野蛮"碰撞的虚构的历史。其中通过对一位驻扎在帝国前哨的老政长官的内心独白的描写,揭示了老行政长官内心的重重矛盾,本文将对其身份的认同、与蛮夷女子的关系以及个人自由的矛盾作具体分析。
South African writer J.M Coetzee's novel Waiting for the Barbarians tells a period of fictional history about the collision between 'civilization' and 'barbarism'. It reveals many contradictions in an old magistrate by describing his inner monologue who is stationed in the imperial outpost. This paper will analyze three contradictions: the old magistrate's identity, the relationship with the barbarian girl and personal freedom.
