Some Western and Russian historians argue that the October Revolution was a' premature birth'.But the objective and subjective conditions had been ripened when the Revolution broke out.In the less developed countries the proletariat may first seize state power and then make great efforts to undertake socialist construction, so as to catch up with the developed countries in the economic field. But it should be noted that it was easy to carry out socialist revolution, but difficult to build socialist societies in the less developed countries. The essenee of the proletariat dictatorship exists in that it represents and realizes a higher type of social labeur organization than the capitalist one.The disintegration of the Soviet Union means only a serious setback of the socialist movement, but not the failure of the socialist system as a whole.
