Price-cut competition has been enjoying a bad reputation in tourism circles. However, the author thinks that price-cut competition has its rational aspect as one of the strategies of market promotion. Under the socialist market economy, price-cut competition should be allowed in No. 3 Category travel services dealing in domestic travel business. The article briefly analyses the reasons why price-cut competition exists and its pros and cons.
