摘要
RP是英语语音学讨论得最多的英语发音，在英语教学界有广泛的影响。本文从探讨RP在社会、区域和音位三方面的特征入手，着重讨论了英国语音学界对RP的最新观点，以及RP的现状和面临的挑战。RP的发展反映出英国社会结构的变化和人们对方言的宽容态度。
RP is the most described and discussed English accent. It has an extensive influence in the Teaching English as a Foreign Language. By quoting some well-known phoneticians, the writer of this article tries to discuss the latest ideas about RP from the perspective of its social, regional and phonological features. The development of RP reveals the change in the British society and people's permissive attitude toward local accents.
