摘要
The present study focuses on the role of the phonetic code and orthographic code of Chinese character recognition by foreign learners. In order to solve this problem, 96 subjects with different Chinese levels were selected to participate in three experiments with proof reading paradigm. The results show: 1) the high level subjects performed better than the low level ones; and 2) there is no dominance shift between the role of phonetic code and orthographic code and here lies a difference between foreign learners of Chinese and Chinese children. Foreign and Chinese subjects rely more on the orthographic code alike in character recognition.
