摘要
This paper discusses the relation between the text function, semantic case of topic and genre. The author finds a series of differences between the topics of narrative and that of descriptive, such as text function, semantic relation, semantic type, the way of development of text, ect. The author also argues that to identify and analyse Chinese topic, the expressive function of the sentence must be analysed.
