摘要
由于对宇宙感知的角度不同,东方人和西方人在文化思维模式和语言表达方式方面存在着差异。汉语因受汉文化整体式思维的影响,允许模糊性表达。汉语的这种特征并不影响用汉语沟通。但是,如果中国学生用英语交流时无意识地使用整体式思维,这种思维模式便是误导。而一般说来,模糊与笼统在英语表达中是应该避免的。通过分析汉英语言文化中的模糊、精确现象,可以探究影响中国学生用英语准确表达的相关因素,寻求改进目前英语教学的新路子。
Easterners and westerners, because of their different perceptions of the universe, differ in cultural thought patterns and the use of languages. Owing to the influence of the global thought patterns of Chinese culture, Chinese language leaves room for people to be vague in the use of the language. This linguistic feature of Chinese language doesn't impede the communication in Chinese. But the global thought patterns are likely to be misleading if Chinese students use these thought patterns unconsciously in their communication in English. It is believed that imprecision and vagueness are to be avoided in the use of English. This paper attempts to analyse some precision and imprecision phenomena in English and Chinese Languages and cultures, to explore the related factors leading to imprecision in Chinese students' English, to provide a new approach to improving present TEFL in China.
