The Angry Young Men refers to the literary school applied to a group of English writers of the 1950s. The school developed the realistic style of the 19th century, showing from different standpoints and perspectives the economy, politics, culture, morals, and ethics of the post-war English society. The Beat Generation, as a literary, cultural and social trend, came into being at the end of 1940s and continued until 1950s, whose young men put on a deeper and more comprehensive rebellion against the society and dominant culture. Based on the writers and their works of those two schools this paper makes an analysis of their similarities and differences.
