摘要
植物词语是语言中最富有民族文化色彩的一部分。由于英汉两个民族在地理、民俗、宗教、思维方式等方面的差异,英语植物词的文化内涵在汉语中的理解不尽相同。因此,作为跨文化交际的翻译,要能准确再现源语的信息,用通俗易懂的汉语译出原文内容的精神实质。文章在分析英语文化植物词与汉语的对应关系基础上提出了3种翻译方法:移植法、借用法和意译法。
Plant words are full of cultural connotation.The differences between English and Chinese nations in geography, customs,religion,thoughts may lead to the fact that Chinese people have different understanding about English culture-load- ed plant words.Therefore,translation,as a means of cross-cultural communication,must reproduce the information of the source language and express its essence and spirit by using fluent and comprehensible Chinese.The article analyzes the rela- tionship between the cultural connotation of English culture-loaded plant words and Chinese meaning,and puts forward three translation skills:metaphrase,borrowing,and paraphrase.
