Standard IOGP S-616 as issued by the International Association of Oil&Gas Producers is prepared andgradually implemented by a number of oil and gas producers through out the world,and certainly will become the newscale and benchmark for the international competitiveness of the linepipe-making field.The background,the main contentsand the main appendixes of standard IOGP S-616 are described.The explanation of the said linepipe standard as madehere in the paper is aimed at reminding domestic steel pipe makers to closely follow the trend of the international standardsassociated with the linepipe,and help the counterparts to understand and benchmark the requirements by the first-frontusers so as to enable them to continuously enhance their manufacturing capacity,and get a good preparation for sustainingand further tapping the world linepipe market.
