英语专业学生批判性思维技能与劝说演讲效果相关性研究 被引量:1

Correlation between English Majors’ Critical Thinking Skills and Their Persuasive Speech Effect

摘要 本研究采用沃森-格拉泽批判性思维量表(WGCTA)和美国高校劝说演讲评分表对天津某高校37名英美文学专业学生进行调查,探讨英语专业学生批判性思维技能与劝说演讲效果之间的相关性。研究结果显示,英语专业学生批判性思维技能与劝说演讲效果之间存在高度显著正相关,批判性思维中的"推理""假设的认可""解释"三项技能也分别与劝说演讲效果显著相关。因此,建议教师增加公共演讲课堂上相关教学活动来提高学生批判性思维技能;英语专业学生通过广泛阅读以培养批判性思维。 The present study aimed at probing into the correlation between English majors’critical thinking skills and their persuasive speech effect.Both the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal(WGCTA)and the Persuasive Speech Evaluation Form from an American state university were adopted to test the critical thinking skills and persuasive speech effect of 37 students from a university in Tianjin majoring in British and American Literature.The data revealed that a highly positive significant correlation existed between English majors’critical thinking skills and their persuasive speech effect.Additionally,inference,recognition of assumption,and interpretation were significantly correlated with persuasive speech effect,respectively.The study,therefore,suggests that teachers devote much more effort to in-class activities in order to promote students’critical thinking skills,and English majors are expected to foster their critical thinking by extensively reading different books.
