Synecdoche,this literary rhetorical device is recognized by many scholars.It skillfully uses hints,metaphors or symbolism to turn abstract concepts or emotions into vivid images or objects,so that the author's thoughts and emotions can be vividly displayed.In the hearts of readers,synecdoche is like a window of inspiration,leading them to feel the deeper connotation.As an important branch of cognitive linguistics,synecdoche,together with metaphor,is a cognitive way of human understanding of the world.Further exploring the cognitive perspective of metaphor helps us to understand its rich connotation more comprehensively.
