摘要
基于《西游记》双语语料库,文章统计《西游记》中“妖”字的英译用词及使用频率,对这些译本中“妖”字的翻译策略进行对比分析。文章认为,译者可以采用直译、意译、省略相结合的方法考证“妖”字的文化意义,最大限度传达原文的文化信息。“妖”的英译分析对小说翻译、文化负载词和语料库语言学这三方面的研究均有借鉴意义。
Based on the bilingual corpus of Journey to the West,this article counts the frequency of English expressions of the word YAO in the English version.The translation strategies of YAO in these translations are analyzed.The article believes that in the translation process,the translator can use a combination of literal translation,paraphrasing,and omission to verify its cultural significance and convey the cultural information of the original text to the greatest extent.The English translation analysis of YAO has reference significance for the research of novel translation,cultural load words and corpus linguistics.
