Today, an increasing number of museums have begun to focus on things’ sensory experience and thus introduced more non-visual senses into museums. In multi-sensory exhibitions, visitors are not only subjects of perception but also those of experience. The turn from“ things” to“ phenomena” makes museums able to collect and display lost civilisations while enhancing the connections between people and the whole world. The museum phenomenon world represents daily life which is full of multi-sensory experiences. People use the senses and body to understand and experience the world. From this perspective, the multi-sensory has more opportunities to be deployed within museums. Museums have started a new journey of multi-sensory communication. The paper will invite people to experience museums with the body. Drawing on meaningful themes, multi-sensory exhibitions create highly contextual spaces by using particular sensory“ props” while offering personalised structured orders with clues closely linked to the senses, so as to build bodily and sensory experiences that are vivid and effective.
