Correlative species distribution models(SDMs)are important tools to estimate species’geographic distribution across space and time,but their reliability heavily relies on the availability and quality of occurrence da...Correlative species distribution models(SDMs)are important tools to estimate species’geographic distribution across space and time,but their reliability heavily relies on the availability and quality of occurrence data.Estimations can be biased when occurrences do not fully represent the environmental requirement of a species.We tested to what extent species’physiological knowledge might influence SDM estimations.Focusing on the Japanese sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus within the coastal ocean of East Asia,we compiled a comprehensive dataset of occurrence records.We then explored the importance of incorporating physiological knowledge into SDMs by calibrating two types of correlative SDMs:a naïve model that solely depends on environmental correlates,and a physiologically informed model that further incorporates physiological information as priors.We further tested the models’sensitivity to calibration area choices by fitting them with different buffered areas around known presences.Compared with naïve models,the physiologically informed models successfully captured the negative influence of high temperature on A.japonicus and were less sensitive to the choice of calibration area.The naïve models resulted in more optimistic prediction of the changes of potential distributions under climate change(i.e.,larger range expansion and less contraction)than the physiologically informed models.Our findings highlight benefits from incorporating physiological information into correlative SDMs,namely mitigating the uncertainties associated with the choice of calibration area.Given these promising features,we encourage future SDM studies to consider species physi-ological information where available.展开更多

Mg-Y-Zn-Al alloys processed by rapidly solidified ribbon consolidation(RSRC)technique exhibit an exceptional mechanical performance indicating promising application potential.This material has a bimodal microstructure...Mg-Y-Zn-Al alloys processed by rapidly solidified ribbon consolidation(RSRC)technique exhibit an exceptional mechanical performance indicating promising application potential.This material has a bimodal microstructure consisting of fine recrystallized and coarse non-recrystallized grains with solute-rich stacking faults forming cluster arranged layers(CALs)and nanoplates(CANaPs),or complete long period stacking ordered(LPSO)phase.In order to reveal the deformation mechanisms,in-situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction line profile analysis was employed for a detailed study of the dislocation arrangement created during tension in Mg-0.9%Zn-2.05%Y-0.15%Al(at%)alloy.For uncovering the effect of the initial microstructure on the mechanical performance,additional samples were obtained by annealing of the as-consolidated specimen at 300 and 400℃ for 2 h.The heat treatment at 300℃ had no significant effect on the initial microstructure,its evolution during tension and,thus,the overall deformation behavior under tensile loading.On the other hand,annealing at 400℃ resulted in a significant increase of the recrystallized grains fraction and a decrease of the dislocation density,leading to only minor degradation of the mechanical strength.The maximum dislocation density at the failure of the samples corresponding to the plastic strain of 10-25% was estimated to be about 16-20×10^(14)m^(-2).The diffraction profile analysis indicated that most dislocations formed during tension were of non-basal and pyramidal types,what was also in agreement with the Schmid factor values revealed independently from orientation maps.It was also shown that the dislocation-induced Taylor hardening was much lower below the plastic strain of 3% than above this value,which was explained by a model of the interaction between prismatic dislocations and CANaPs/LPSO plates.展开更多
So far approximately 144,000 species of fungi have been named but sequences of the majority of them do not exist in the public databases.Therefore,the quality and coverage of public barcode databases is a bottleneck t...So far approximately 144,000 species of fungi have been named but sequences of the majority of them do not exist in the public databases.Therefore,the quality and coverage of public barcode databases is a bottleneck that hinders the study of fungi.Cortinarius is the largest genus of Agaricales with thousands of species world-wide.The most diverse subgenus in Cortinarius is Telamonia and its species have been considered one of the most taxonomically challenging in the Agaricales.Its high diversity combined with convergent,similar appearing taxa have earned it a reputation of being an impossible group to study.In this study a total of 746 specimens,including 482 type specimens representing 184 species were sequenced.Also,a significant number of old types were successfully sequenced,105 type specimens were over 50 years old and 18 type specimens over 100 years old.Altogether,20 epi-or neotypes are proposed for recently commonly used older names.Our study doubles the number of reliable DNA-barcodes of species of C.subgenus Telamonia in the public sequence data-bases.This is also the first extensive phylogenetic study of the subgenus.A majority of the sections and species are shown in a phylogenetic context for the first time.Our study shows that nomenclatural problems,even in difficult groups like C.subgenus Telamonia,can be solved and consequently identification of species based on ITS barcodes becomes an easy task even for non-experts of the genus.展开更多
With the development of edge devices and cloud computing,the question of how to accomplish machine learning and optimization tasks in a privacy-preserving and secure way has attracted increased attention over the past...With the development of edge devices and cloud computing,the question of how to accomplish machine learning and optimization tasks in a privacy-preserving and secure way has attracted increased attention over the past decade.As a privacy-preserving distributed machine learning method,federated learning(FL)has become popular in the last few years.However,the data privacy issue also occurs when solving optimization problems,which has received little attention so far.This survey paper is concerned with privacy-preserving optimization,with a focus on privacy-preserving data-driven evolutionary optimization.It aims to provide a roadmap from secure privacy-preserving learning to secure privacy-preserving optimization by summarizing security mechanisms and privacy-preserving approaches that can be employed in machine learning and optimization.We provide a formal definition of security and privacy in learning,followed by a comprehensive review of FL schemes and cryptographic privacy-preserving techniques.Then,we present ideas on the emerging area of privacy-preserving optimization,ranging from privacy-preserving distributed optimization to privacy-preserving evolutionary optimization and privacy-preserving Bayesian optimization(BO).We further provide a thorough security analysis of BO and evolutionary optimization methods from the perspective of inferring attacks and active attacks.On the basis of the above,an in-depth discussion is given to analyze what FL and distributed optimization strategies can be used for the design of federated optimization and what additional requirements are needed for achieving these strategies.Finally,we conclude the survey by outlining open questions and remaining challenges in federated data-driven optimization.We hope this survey can provide insights into the relationship between FL and federated optimization and will promote research interest in secure federated optimization.展开更多

Research of autonomous manufacturing systems is motivated both by the new technical possibilities of cyber-physical systems and by the practical needs of the industry.Autonomous operation in semi-structured industrial...Research of autonomous manufacturing systems is motivated both by the new technical possibilities of cyber-physical systems and by the practical needs of the industry.Autonomous operation in semi-structured industrial environments can now be supported by advanced sensor technologies,digital twins,artificial intelligence and novel communication techniques.These enable real-time monitoring of production processes,situation recognition and prediction,automated and adaptive(re)planning,teamwork and performance improvement by learning.This paper summarizes the main requirements towards autonomous industrial robotics and suggests a generic workflow for realizing such systems.Application case studies will be presented from recent practice at HUN-REN SZTAKI in a broad range of domains such as assembly,welding,grinding,picking and placing,and machining.The various solutions have in common that they use a generic digital twin concept as their core.After making general recommendations for realizing autonomous robotic solutions in the industry,open issues for future research will be discussed.展开更多
Point defect quantum bits in semiconductors have the potential to revolutionize sensing at atomic scales.Currently,vacancy-related defects are at the forefront of high spatial resolution and low-dimensional sensing.On...Point defect quantum bits in semiconductors have the potential to revolutionize sensing at atomic scales.Currently,vacancy-related defects are at the forefront of high spatial resolution and low-dimensional sensing.On the other hand,it is expected that impurity-related defect structures may give rise to new features that could further advance quantum sensing in low dimensions.Here,we study the symmetric carbon tetramer clusters in hexagonal boron nitride and propose them as spin qubits for sensing.We utilize periodic-DFT and quantum chemistry approaches to reliably and accurately predict the electronic,optical,and spin properties of the studied defect.We show that the nitrogen-centered symmetric carbon tetramer gives rise to spin state-dependent optical signals with strain-sensitive intersystem crossing rates.Furthermore,the weak hyperfine coupling of the defect to their spin environments results in a reduced electron spin resonance linewidth that can enhance sensitivity.展开更多

Despite its small area, the Gaza Strip (365 km<sup>2</sup>) has a relatively large variety of resident and migratory bird fauna. Therefore, the current study aimed to provide an updated checklist of all bird fauna living in or inhabiting the Gaza Strip. Direct field observations using binoculars, continuous visits to zoos, pet stores and biology museums, discussion with bird hunters, follow-up of news and social networking sites, review of scientific publications and photography were the main tools to satisfy the purpose of the study. At least 250 bird species collected from different sources occur in the Gaza Strip and are included in the checklist. This list will not be static, but is inevitably subject to additions and changes in the face of times. The current 250 bird species of the Gaza Strip represent 45.4% of the 551 species of birds living in Palestine. The bird species were found to belong to 21 orders and 61 families. The Passeriformes (passerines) represented the largest order with 96 species of birds (38.4%), followed by the Charadriiformes 54 (21.6%), the Accipitriformes 18 (7.2%), Anseriformes 17 (6.8%) and Pelecaniformes 14 (5.6%), while the other orders represented the remaining percentage (20.4%). With regard to families, the Scolopacidae represented the largest family with 22 species of birds (8.8%), followed by the Anatidae and Accipitridae 17 for each (6.8%), the Muscicapidae 16 (6.4%) and Chariidridae and Fringillidae 11 for each (4.4%), while the other families represented the remaining percentage (62.4%). According to the IUCN regional threat categories, 226 species (90.4%) were Least Concern (LC), 12 (4.8%) were Near Threatened (NT), 6 (2.4%) were Vulnerable (VU), 4 (1.6%) were Endangered (EN) and 2 (0.8%) were Critically Endangered (CR). ·AIM: To review existing data for the prevalence of corrected, uncorrected, and inadequately corrected refractive errors and spectacle wear in Hungary.·METHODS: Data from two nationwide cross-sectional studi...·AIM: To review existing data for the prevalence of corrected, uncorrected, and inadequately corrected refractive errors and spectacle wear in Hungary.·METHODS: Data from two nationwide cross-sectional studies were analysed. The Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness study collected population-based representative national data on the prevalence of visual impairment due to uncorrected refractive errors and spectacle coverage in 3523 people aged ≥50y(Group I). The Comprehensive Health Test Program of Hungary provided data on the use of spectacles in 80 290 people aged ≥18y(Group Ⅱ).·RESULTS: In Group I, almost half of the survey population showed refractive errors for distant vision, about 10% of which were uncorrected(3.2% of all male participants and 5.0% of females). The distance spectacle coverage was 90.7%(91.9% in males;90.2% in females). The proportion of inadequate distance spectacles was found to be 33.1%. Uncorrected presbyopia was found in 15.7% of participants. In all age groups(Group Ⅱ), 65.4% of females and 56.0% of males used distance spectacles,and approximately 28.9% of these spectacles were found to be inappropriate for dioptric power(with 0.5 dioptres or more). The prevalence of inaccurate distance spectacles was significantly higher in older age groups(71y and above) in both sexes.·CONCLUSION: According to this population-based data, uncorrected refractive errors are not rare in Hungary. Despite recent national initiatives, fur ther steps are required to reduce uncorrected refractive errors and associated negative effects on vision, such as avoidable visual impairment.展开更多
Long-distance migratory birds often face major geographical barriers on their journey.While some species are able to cross them,others use longer routes to avoid such barriers.Little is known about the strategies of S...Long-distance migratory birds often face major geographical barriers on their journey.While some species are able to cross them,others use longer routes to avoid such barriers.Little is known about the strategies of Siberian landbird migrants,which either cross or circumvent the deserts and mountain ranges of Central Asia en route to their non-breeding sites in Southeast Asia.Here we compare data on migration phenology and morphology from two bird ringing stations in eastern Russia,situated at similar latitudes but with a longitudinal difference of 1500 km,to hypothesise migration patterns.We found significant differences in timing between the two sites(birds migrated significantly earlier in spring and significantly later in autumn in the east),suggesting longitudinal migration as a result of migration detour.However,morphological differences show a less clear pattern.We argue that most Siberian landbirds might opt for a detour through the Russian Far East instead of a direct route in order to avoid unfavourable stop-over habitat in Central Asia.However,tracking studies will be necessary to prove this.展开更多
Background:Proprioceptive accuracy refers to the individual’s ability to perceive proprioceptive information,that is,the information referring to the actual state of the locomotor system,which originates from mechano...Background:Proprioceptive accuracy refers to the individual’s ability to perceive proprioceptive information,that is,the information referring to the actual state of the locomotor system,which originates from mechanoreceptors located in various parts of the locomotor system and from tactile receptors located in the skin.Proprioceptive accuracy appears to be an important aspect in the evaluation of sensorimotor functioning;however,no widely accepted standard assessment exists.In this systematic review,our goal was to identify and categorize different methods that are used to assess different aspects of proprioceptive accuracy.Methods:A literature search was conducted in 5 different databases(PubMed,SPORTDiscus,PsycINFO,ScienceDirect,and SpringerLink).Results:Overall,1139 scientific papers reporting 1346 methods were included in this review.The methods assess 8 different aspects of proprioception:(a)the perception of joint position,(b)movement and movement extent,(c)trajectory,(d)velocity,and the sense of(e)force,(f)muscle tension,(g)weight,and(h)size.They apply various paradigms of psychophysics(i.e.,the method of adjustment,constant stimuli,and limits).Conclusion:As the outcomes of different tasks with respect to various body parts show no associations(i.e.,proprioceptive accuracy is characterized by site-specificity and method-specificity),the appropriate measurement method for the task needs to be chosen based on theoretical considerations and/or ecological validity.展开更多
Emerging adulthood(EA)is a critical stage of life to develop and sustain a healthy lifestyle,which is also a time of vulnerability to poor physical and mental health outcomes.In this study,we conducted a path analysis...Emerging adulthood(EA)is a critical stage of life to develop and sustain a healthy lifestyle,which is also a time of vulnerability to poor physical and mental health outcomes.In this study,we conducted a path analysis(N=1326)to examine associations among four dimensions of EA,levels of regular physical activity(PA),self-control,MPA tendency and irrational procrastination.Results found:1)higher levels of PA predicted both MPA tendency(β=−0.08,95%CI:−0.11 to−0.06,p<0.001)and irrational procrastination(β=−0.01,95%CI:−0.17 to−0.008,p<0.01)indirectly via self-control;2)Instability(β=0.13,95%CI:0.08 to 0.18,p<0.01)and Responsibility(β=−0.06,95%CI:−0.10 to−0.08,p=0.03)exerted direct effects on irrational procrastination and Instability also indirectly predicted irrational procrastination via MPA tendency(β=0.03,95%CI:0.02 to 0.05,p<0.01).These findings proved that perceived features of EA are linked to behavioral problems and supported that regular PA plays a crucial role to protect mental health.展开更多

Principles of molecular self-assembly into giant hierarchical structures of hundreds of micrometers in size are studied in aggregates of meso-tetra(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphine(TPPS_(4)).The aggregates form a central tu...Principles of molecular self-assembly into giant hierarchical structures of hundreds of micrometers in size are studied in aggregates of meso-tetra(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphine(TPPS_(4)).The aggregates form a central tubular core,which is covered with radially protruding filamentous non-branching aggregates.The filaments cluster and orient at varying angles from the core surface and some filaments form bundles.Due to shape resemblance,the structures are termed giant sea urchin(GSU)aggregates.Spectrally resolved fluorescence microscopy reveals J-and H-bands of TPPS_(4)aggregates in both the central core and the filaments.The fluorescence of the core is quenched while filaments exhibit strong fluorescence.Upon drying,the filament fluorescence gets quenched while the core is less affected,showing stronger relative fluorescence.Fluorescencedetected linear dichroism(FDLD)microscopy reveals that absorption dipoles corresponding to J-bands are oriented along the filament axis.The comparison of FDLD with scanning electron microscopy(SEM)reveals the structure of central core comprised of multilayer ribbons,which wind around the core axis forming a tube.Polarimetric second-harmonic generation(SHG)and thirdharmonic generation microscopy exhibits strong signal from the filaments with nonlinear dipoles oriented close to the filament axis,while central core displays very low SHG due to close to centrosymmetric organization.Large chiral nonlinear susceptibility points to helical arrangement of the filaments.The investigation shows that TPPS_(4)molecules form distinct aggregate types,including chiral nanotubes and nanogranular aggregates that associate into the hierarchical GSU structure,prototypical to complex biological structures.The chiral TPPS_(4)aggregates can serve as harmonophores for nonlinear microscopy.展开更多

The majority of medical conditions including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, infections and immune system disorders and inflammatory bowel disease could probably benefit from therapeutic modulation of the autophagy machinery. Drosophila represents an excellent model animal to study disease mechanisms thanks to its sophisticated genetic toolkit, and the conservation of human disease genes and autophagic processes. Here, we provide an overview of the various autophagy pathways observed both in flies and human cells(macroautophagy, microautophagy and chaperone-mediated autophagy), and discuss Drosophila models of the above-mentioned diseases where fly research has already helped to understand how defects in autophagy genes and pathways contribute to the relevant pathomechanisms.展开更多
Among the common hazards related to alluvial fans,flooding is one of the most important.Nonetheless,in populated alluvial fans,not only the natural processes are effective in floods,but the artificial structures and m...Among the common hazards related to alluvial fans,flooding is one of the most important.Nonetheless,in populated alluvial fans,not only the natural processes are effective in floods,but the artificial structures and modifications can change the behavior of flooding and its potential risks.This study aims to indicate the flood-prone landforms in a set of populated alluvial fans in an arid region and investigate the role of anthropogenic activities in controlling/exacerbating flooding in alluvial fans.To achieve this goal,15 Ground Range Detected in High resolution(GRDH)SAR Sentinel-1 images,covering a total of 24 alluvial fans,were acquired.Pre-processing and post-processing steps were applied to all images to identify flood-prone sections of the studied alluvial fans.The results showed that feeder channels,spreading sites,and wide interfluves are the most flood-prone landforms of alluvial fans.In terms of anthropogenic modifications to mitigate flooding,a rampart system is distributed in the study area.Ramparts are levee like structures formed from the fan material.They aim to mitigate flood hazard on residential areas,infrastructures,and agricultural lands of the study area.Results show that the rampart system can reduce the danger of floods,but it cannot be considered a long-term solution.Therefore,a comprehensive flood protection system distributed throughout the whole alluvial fan system is needed.Results also reveal that in regions where flood monitoring is challenging,SAR images can be used as a freely available data set to monitor and identify flooding hotspots.展开更多
Gridded model assessments require at least one climatic and one soil database for carrying out the simulations.There are several parallel soil and climate database development projects that provide sufficient,albeit c...Gridded model assessments require at least one climatic and one soil database for carrying out the simulations.There are several parallel soil and climate database development projects that provide sufficient,albeit considerably different,observation based input data for crop model based impact studies.The input database related uncertainty of the Biome-BGCMuSo agro-environmental model outputs was investigated using three and four different gridded climatic and soil databases,respectively covering an area of nearly 100.000 km2 with 1104 grid cells.Spatial,temporal,climate and soil database selection related variances were calculated and compared for four model outputs obtained from 30-year-long simulations.The choice of the input database introduced model output variability that was comparable to the variability the year-to-year change of the weather or the spatial heterogeneity of the soil causes.Input database selection could be a decisive factor in carbon sequestration related studies as the soil carbon stock change estimates may either suggest that the simulated ecosystem is a carbon sink or to the contrary a carbon source on the long run.Careful evaluation of the input database quality seems to be an inevitable and highly relevant step towards more realistic plant production and carbon balance simulations.展开更多

文摘Correlative species distribution models(SDMs)are important tools to estimate species’geographic distribution across space and time,but their reliability heavily relies on the availability and quality of occurrence data.Estimations can be biased when occurrences do not fully represent the environmental requirement of a species.We tested to what extent species’physiological knowledge might influence SDM estimations.Focusing on the Japanese sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus within the coastal ocean of East Asia,we compiled a comprehensive dataset of occurrence records.We then explored the importance of incorporating physiological knowledge into SDMs by calibrating two types of correlative SDMs:a naïve model that solely depends on environmental correlates,and a physiologically informed model that further incorporates physiological information as priors.We further tested the models’sensitivity to calibration area choices by fitting them with different buffered areas around known presences.Compared with naïve models,the physiologically informed models successfully captured the negative influence of high temperature on A.japonicus and were less sensitive to the choice of calibration area.The naïve models resulted in more optimistic prediction of the changes of potential distributions under climate change(i.e.,larger range expansion and less contraction)than the physiologically informed models.Our findings highlight benefits from incorporating physiological information into correlative SDMs,namely mitigating the uncertainties associated with the choice of calibration area.Given these promising features,we encourage future SDM studies to consider species physi-ological information where available.

文摘Populations experiencing negligible predation pressure are expected to evolve higher behavioral activity.However,when sexes have different expected benefits from high activity,the adaptive shift is expected to be sex-specific.Here,we compared movement activity of one cave(lack of predation)and three adjacent surface(high and diverse predation)populations of Asellus aquaticus,a freshwater isopod known for its independent colonization of several caves across Europe.We predicted 1)higher activity in cave than in surface populations,with 2)the difference being more pronounced in males as they are known for active mate searching behavior,while females are not.Activity was assessed both in the presence and absence of light.Our results supported both predictions:movement activity was higher in the cave than in the surface populations,particularly in males.Relaxed predation pressure in the cave-adapted population is most likely the main selective factor behind increased behavioral activity,but we also showed that the extent of increase is sex-specific.

文摘Mg-Y-Zn-Al alloys processed by rapidly solidified ribbon consolidation(RSRC)technique exhibit an exceptional mechanical performance indicating promising application potential.This material has a bimodal microstructure consisting of fine recrystallized and coarse non-recrystallized grains with solute-rich stacking faults forming cluster arranged layers(CALs)and nanoplates(CANaPs),or complete long period stacking ordered(LPSO)phase.In order to reveal the deformation mechanisms,in-situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction line profile analysis was employed for a detailed study of the dislocation arrangement created during tension in Mg-0.9%Zn-2.05%Y-0.15%Al(at%)alloy.For uncovering the effect of the initial microstructure on the mechanical performance,additional samples were obtained by annealing of the as-consolidated specimen at 300 and 400℃ for 2 h.The heat treatment at 300℃ had no significant effect on the initial microstructure,its evolution during tension and,thus,the overall deformation behavior under tensile loading.On the other hand,annealing at 400℃ resulted in a significant increase of the recrystallized grains fraction and a decrease of the dislocation density,leading to only minor degradation of the mechanical strength.The maximum dislocation density at the failure of the samples corresponding to the plastic strain of 10-25% was estimated to be about 16-20×10^(14)m^(-2).The diffraction profile analysis indicated that most dislocations formed during tension were of non-basal and pyramidal types,what was also in agreement with the Schmid factor values revealed independently from orientation maps.It was also shown that the dislocation-induced Taylor hardening was much lower below the plastic strain of 3% than above this value,which was explained by a model of the interaction between prismatic dislocations and CANaPs/LPSO plates.

文摘So far approximately 144,000 species of fungi have been named but sequences of the majority of them do not exist in the public databases.Therefore,the quality and coverage of public barcode databases is a bottleneck that hinders the study of fungi.Cortinarius is the largest genus of Agaricales with thousands of species world-wide.The most diverse subgenus in Cortinarius is Telamonia and its species have been considered one of the most taxonomically challenging in the Agaricales.Its high diversity combined with convergent,similar appearing taxa have earned it a reputation of being an impossible group to study.In this study a total of 746 specimens,including 482 type specimens representing 184 species were sequenced.Also,a significant number of old types were successfully sequenced,105 type specimens were over 50 years old and 18 type specimens over 100 years old.Altogether,20 epi-or neotypes are proposed for recently commonly used older names.Our study doubles the number of reliable DNA-barcodes of species of C.subgenus Telamonia in the public sequence data-bases.This is also the first extensive phylogenetic study of the subgenus.A majority of the sections and species are shown in a phylogenetic context for the first time.Our study shows that nomenclatural problems,even in difficult groups like C.subgenus Telamonia,can be solved and consequently identification of species based on ITS barcodes becomes an easy task even for non-experts of the genus.

文摘With the development of edge devices and cloud computing,the question of how to accomplish machine learning and optimization tasks in a privacy-preserving and secure way has attracted increased attention over the past decade.As a privacy-preserving distributed machine learning method,federated learning(FL)has become popular in the last few years.However,the data privacy issue also occurs when solving optimization problems,which has received little attention so far.This survey paper is concerned with privacy-preserving optimization,with a focus on privacy-preserving data-driven evolutionary optimization.It aims to provide a roadmap from secure privacy-preserving learning to secure privacy-preserving optimization by summarizing security mechanisms and privacy-preserving approaches that can be employed in machine learning and optimization.We provide a formal definition of security and privacy in learning,followed by a comprehensive review of FL schemes and cryptographic privacy-preserving techniques.Then,we present ideas on the emerging area of privacy-preserving optimization,ranging from privacy-preserving distributed optimization to privacy-preserving evolutionary optimization and privacy-preserving Bayesian optimization(BO).We further provide a thorough security analysis of BO and evolutionary optimization methods from the perspective of inferring attacks and active attacks.On the basis of the above,an in-depth discussion is given to analyze what FL and distributed optimization strategies can be used for the design of federated optimization and what additional requirements are needed for achieving these strategies.Finally,we conclude the survey by outlining open questions and remaining challenges in federated data-driven optimization.We hope this survey can provide insights into the relationship between FL and federated optimization and will promote research interest in secure federated optimization.
文摘High transverse momentum(pT)particle production is suppressed owing to the parton(jet)energy loss in the hot dense medium created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.Redistribution of energy at low-to-modest pT has been difficult to measure,owing to large anisotropic backgrounds.We report a data-driven method for background evaluation and subtraction,exploiting the away-side pseudorapidity gaps,to measure the jetlike correlation shape in Au+Au collisions at √sNN=200 GeV in the STAR experiment.The correlation shapes,for trigger particles pT>3GeV/c and various associated particle pT ranges within 0.5<pT<10GeV/c,are consistent with Gaussians,and their widths increase with centrality.The results indicate jet broadening in the medium created in central heavy-ion collisions.

文摘Research of autonomous manufacturing systems is motivated both by the new technical possibilities of cyber-physical systems and by the practical needs of the industry.Autonomous operation in semi-structured industrial environments can now be supported by advanced sensor technologies,digital twins,artificial intelligence and novel communication techniques.These enable real-time monitoring of production processes,situation recognition and prediction,automated and adaptive(re)planning,teamwork and performance improvement by learning.This paper summarizes the main requirements towards autonomous industrial robotics and suggests a generic workflow for realizing such systems.Application case studies will be presented from recent practice at HUN-REN SZTAKI in a broad range of domains such as assembly,welding,grinding,picking and placing,and machining.The various solutions have in common that they use a generic digital twin concept as their core.After making general recommendations for realizing autonomous robotic solutions in the industry,open issues for future research will be discussed.
文摘Point defect quantum bits in semiconductors have the potential to revolutionize sensing at atomic scales.Currently,vacancy-related defects are at the forefront of high spatial resolution and low-dimensional sensing.On the other hand,it is expected that impurity-related defect structures may give rise to new features that could further advance quantum sensing in low dimensions.Here,we study the symmetric carbon tetramer clusters in hexagonal boron nitride and propose them as spin qubits for sensing.We utilize periodic-DFT and quantum chemistry approaches to reliably and accurately predict the electronic,optical,and spin properties of the studied defect.We show that the nitrogen-centered symmetric carbon tetramer gives rise to spin state-dependent optical signals with strain-sensitive intersystem crossing rates.Furthermore,the weak hyperfine coupling of the defect to their spin environments results in a reduced electron spin resonance linewidth that can enhance sensitivity.
文摘Bird fauna checklists are important tools in ecology, biology, and conservation planning for scientists, stakeholders, and decision-makers. Despite its small area, the Gaza Strip (365 km<sup>2</sup>) has a relatively large variety of resident and migratory bird fauna. Therefore, the current study aimed to provide an updated checklist of all bird fauna living in or inhabiting the Gaza Strip. Direct field observations using binoculars, continuous visits to zoos, pet stores and biology museums, discussion with bird hunters, follow-up of news and social networking sites, review of scientific publications and photography were the main tools to satisfy the purpose of the study. At least 250 bird species collected from different sources occur in the Gaza Strip and are included in the checklist. This list will not be static, but is inevitably subject to additions and changes in the face of times. The current 250 bird species of the Gaza Strip represent 45.4% of the 551 species of birds living in Palestine. The bird species were found to belong to 21 orders and 61 families. The Passeriformes (passerines) represented the largest order with 96 species of birds (38.4%), followed by the Charadriiformes 54 (21.6%), the Accipitriformes 18 (7.2%), Anseriformes 17 (6.8%) and Pelecaniformes 14 (5.6%), while the other orders represented the remaining percentage (20.4%). With regard to families, the Scolopacidae represented the largest family with 22 species of birds (8.8%), followed by the Anatidae and Accipitridae 17 for each (6.8%), the Muscicapidae 16 (6.4%) and Chariidridae and Fringillidae 11 for each (4.4%), while the other families represented the remaining percentage (62.4%). According to the IUCN regional threat categories, 226 species (90.4%) were Least Concern (LC), 12 (4.8%) were Near Threatened (NT), 6 (2.4%) were Vulnerable (VU), 4 (1.6%) were Endangered (EN) and 2 (0.8%) were Critically Endangered (CR). 文摘·AIM: To review existing data for the prevalence of corrected, uncorrected, and inadequately corrected refractive errors and spectacle wear in Hungary.·METHODS: Data from two nationwide cross-sectional studies were analysed. The Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness study collected population-based representative national data on the prevalence of visual impairment due to uncorrected refractive errors and spectacle coverage in 3523 people aged ≥50y(Group I). The Comprehensive Health Test Program of Hungary provided data on the use of spectacles in 80 290 people aged ≥18y(Group Ⅱ).·RESULTS: In Group I, almost half of the survey population showed refractive errors for distant vision, about 10% of which were uncorrected(3.2% of all male participants and 5.0% of females). The distance spectacle coverage was 90.7%(91.9% in males;90.2% in females). The proportion of inadequate distance spectacles was found to be 33.1%. Uncorrected presbyopia was found in 15.7% of participants. In all age groups(Group Ⅱ), 65.4% of females and 56.0% of males used distance spectacles,and approximately 28.9% of these spectacles were found to be inappropriate for dioptric power(with 0.5 dioptres or more). The prevalence of inaccurate distance spectacles was significantly higher in older age groups(71y and above) in both sexes.·CONCLUSION: According to this population-based data, uncorrected refractive errors are not rare in Hungary. Despite recent national initiatives, fur ther steps are required to reduce uncorrected refractive errors and associated negative effects on vision, such as avoidable visual impairment.

文摘Long-distance migratory birds often face major geographical barriers on their journey.While some species are able to cross them,others use longer routes to avoid such barriers.Little is known about the strategies of Siberian landbird migrants,which either cross or circumvent the deserts and mountain ranges of Central Asia en route to their non-breeding sites in Southeast Asia.Here we compare data on migration phenology and morphology from two bird ringing stations in eastern Russia,situated at similar latitudes but with a longitudinal difference of 1500 km,to hypothesise migration patterns.We found significant differences in timing between the two sites(birds migrated significantly earlier in spring and significantly later in autumn in the east),suggesting longitudinal migration as a result of migration detour.However,morphological differences show a less clear pattern.We argue that most Siberian landbirds might opt for a detour through the Russian Far East instead of a direct route in order to avoid unfavourable stop-over habitat in Central Asia.However,tracking studies will be necessary to prove this.

文摘Background:Proprioceptive accuracy refers to the individual’s ability to perceive proprioceptive information,that is,the information referring to the actual state of the locomotor system,which originates from mechanoreceptors located in various parts of the locomotor system and from tactile receptors located in the skin.Proprioceptive accuracy appears to be an important aspect in the evaluation of sensorimotor functioning;however,no widely accepted standard assessment exists.In this systematic review,our goal was to identify and categorize different methods that are used to assess different aspects of proprioceptive accuracy.Methods:A literature search was conducted in 5 different databases(PubMed,SPORTDiscus,PsycINFO,ScienceDirect,and SpringerLink).Results:Overall,1139 scientific papers reporting 1346 methods were included in this review.The methods assess 8 different aspects of proprioception:(a)the perception of joint position,(b)movement and movement extent,(c)trajectory,(d)velocity,and the sense of(e)force,(f)muscle tension,(g)weight,and(h)size.They apply various paradigms of psychophysics(i.e.,the method of adjustment,constant stimuli,and limits).Conclusion:As the outcomes of different tasks with respect to various body parts show no associations(i.e.,proprioceptive accuracy is characterized by site-specificity and method-specificity),the appropriate measurement method for the task needs to be chosen based on theoretical considerations and/or ecological validity.

文摘Emerging adulthood(EA)is a critical stage of life to develop and sustain a healthy lifestyle,which is also a time of vulnerability to poor physical and mental health outcomes.In this study,we conducted a path analysis(N=1326)to examine associations among four dimensions of EA,levels of regular physical activity(PA),self-control,MPA tendency and irrational procrastination.Results found:1)higher levels of PA predicted both MPA tendency(β=−0.08,95%CI:−0.11 to−0.06,p<0.001)and irrational procrastination(β=−0.01,95%CI:−0.17 to−0.008,p<0.01)indirectly via self-control;2)Instability(β=0.13,95%CI:0.08 to 0.18,p<0.01)and Responsibility(β=−0.06,95%CI:−0.10 to−0.08,p=0.03)exerted direct effects on irrational procrastination and Instability also indirectly predicted irrational procrastination via MPA tendency(β=0.03,95%CI:0.02 to 0.05,p<0.01).These findings proved that perceived features of EA are linked to behavioral problems and supported that regular PA plays a crucial role to protect mental health.

文摘Principles of molecular self-assembly into giant hierarchical structures of hundreds of micrometers in size are studied in aggregates of meso-tetra(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphine(TPPS_(4)).The aggregates form a central tubular core,which is covered with radially protruding filamentous non-branching aggregates.The filaments cluster and orient at varying angles from the core surface and some filaments form bundles.Due to shape resemblance,the structures are termed giant sea urchin(GSU)aggregates.Spectrally resolved fluorescence microscopy reveals J-and H-bands of TPPS_(4)aggregates in both the central core and the filaments.The fluorescence of the core is quenched while filaments exhibit strong fluorescence.Upon drying,the filament fluorescence gets quenched while the core is less affected,showing stronger relative fluorescence.Fluorescencedetected linear dichroism(FDLD)microscopy reveals that absorption dipoles corresponding to J-bands are oriented along the filament axis.The comparison of FDLD with scanning electron microscopy(SEM)reveals the structure of central core comprised of multilayer ribbons,which wind around the core axis forming a tube.Polarimetric second-harmonic generation(SHG)and thirdharmonic generation microscopy exhibits strong signal from the filaments with nonlinear dipoles oriented close to the filament axis,while central core displays very low SHG due to close to centrosymmetric organization.Large chiral nonlinear susceptibility points to helical arrangement of the filaments.The investigation shows that TPPS_(4)molecules form distinct aggregate types,including chiral nanotubes and nanogranular aggregates that associate into the hierarchical GSU structure,prototypical to complex biological structures.The chiral TPPS_(4)aggregates can serve as harmonophores for nonlinear microscopy.

文摘Autophagy is a lysosome-dependent intracellular degradation pathway that has been implicated in the pathogenesis of various human diseases, either positively or negatively impacting disease outcomes depending on the specific context. The majority of medical conditions including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, infections and immune system disorders and inflammatory bowel disease could probably benefit from therapeutic modulation of the autophagy machinery. Drosophila represents an excellent model animal to study disease mechanisms thanks to its sophisticated genetic toolkit, and the conservation of human disease genes and autophagic processes. Here, we provide an overview of the various autophagy pathways observed both in flies and human cells(macroautophagy, microautophagy and chaperone-mediated autophagy), and discuss Drosophila models of the above-mentioned diseases where fly research has already helped to understand how defects in autophagy genes and pathways contribute to the relevant pathomechanisms.
文摘Among the common hazards related to alluvial fans,flooding is one of the most important.Nonetheless,in populated alluvial fans,not only the natural processes are effective in floods,but the artificial structures and modifications can change the behavior of flooding and its potential risks.This study aims to indicate the flood-prone landforms in a set of populated alluvial fans in an arid region and investigate the role of anthropogenic activities in controlling/exacerbating flooding in alluvial fans.To achieve this goal,15 Ground Range Detected in High resolution(GRDH)SAR Sentinel-1 images,covering a total of 24 alluvial fans,were acquired.Pre-processing and post-processing steps were applied to all images to identify flood-prone sections of the studied alluvial fans.The results showed that feeder channels,spreading sites,and wide interfluves are the most flood-prone landforms of alluvial fans.In terms of anthropogenic modifications to mitigate flooding,a rampart system is distributed in the study area.Ramparts are levee like structures formed from the fan material.They aim to mitigate flood hazard on residential areas,infrastructures,and agricultural lands of the study area.Results show that the rampart system can reduce the danger of floods,but it cannot be considered a long-term solution.Therefore,a comprehensive flood protection system distributed throughout the whole alluvial fan system is needed.Results also reveal that in regions where flood monitoring is challenging,SAR images can be used as a freely available data set to monitor and identify flooding hotspots.

文摘Gridded model assessments require at least one climatic and one soil database for carrying out the simulations.There are several parallel soil and climate database development projects that provide sufficient,albeit considerably different,observation based input data for crop model based impact studies.The input database related uncertainty of the Biome-BGCMuSo agro-environmental model outputs was investigated using three and four different gridded climatic and soil databases,respectively covering an area of nearly 100.000 km2 with 1104 grid cells.Spatial,temporal,climate and soil database selection related variances were calculated and compared for four model outputs obtained from 30-year-long simulations.The choice of the input database introduced model output variability that was comparable to the variability the year-to-year change of the weather or the spatial heterogeneity of the soil causes.Input database selection could be a decisive factor in carbon sequestration related studies as the soil carbon stock change estimates may either suggest that the simulated ecosystem is a carbon sink or to the contrary a carbon source on the long run.Careful evaluation of the input database quality seems to be an inevitable and highly relevant step towards more realistic plant production and carbon balance simulations.
