The increased utilisation of magnesium(Mg)each year reveals growing demand for its Mg-based alloys. Additive manufacturing(AM) provides the possibility to directly manufacture components in net-shape, providing new possibilities and applications for the use of Mg-alloys, and new prospects in the utilisation of novel physical structures made possible from ‘3D printing’. The review herein seeks to holistically explore the additive manufacturing of Mg-alloys to date, including a synopsis of processes used and properties measured(with a comparison to conventionally prepared Mg-alloys). The challenges and possibilities of AM Mg-alloys are critically elaborated for the field of mechanical metallurgy. 展开更多

The heterogeneous multilayer interface of VN/Ag coatings and transition multilayer interface of VN/Ag coatings were prepared on Inconel 781 and Si(100),and the microstructures,mechanical and tribological properties were investigated from 25 to 700℃.The results showed that the surface roughness and average grain size of VN/Ag coatings with transition multilayer interface are obviously larger than those of VN/Ag coatings with heterogeneous multilayer interface.The coatings with transition multilayer interface have higher adhesion force and hardness than the coatings with heterogeneous multilayer interface,and both coatings can effectively restrict the initiation and propagation of microcracks.Both coatings have excellent self-adaptive lubricating properties with a decrease of friction coefficient as the temperature increases,but their wear rates reveal a drastic increase.The phase composition of the worn area of both coatings was investigated,which indicates that a smooth Ag,Magnéli phase(V2O5)and bimetallic oxides(Ag3VO4 and AgVO3)can be responsible to the excellent lubricity of both coatings.To sum up,the coatings with transition multilayer interface have excellent adaptive lubricating properties and can properly control the diffusion rate and release rate of the lubricating phase,indicating that they have great potential in solving the problem of friction and wear of mechanical parts. 展开更多

The wheel brake system safety is a complex problem which refers to its technical state, operating environment, human factors, etc., in aircraft landing taxiing process. Usually, professors consider system safety with traditional probability techniques based on the linear chain of events. However, it could not comprehensively analyze system safety problems, especially in operating environment, interaction of subsystems, and human factors. Thus,we consider system safety as a control problem based on the system-theoretic accident model, the processes(STAMP) model and the system theoretic process analysis(STPA) technique to compensate the deficiency of traditional techniques. Meanwhile,system safety simulation is considered as system control simulation, and Monte Carlo methods are used which consider the range of uncertain parameters and operation deviation to quantitatively study system safety influence factors in control simulation. Firstly,we construct the STAMP model and STPA feedback control loop of the wheel brake system based on the system functional requirement. Then four unsafe control actions are identified, and causes of them are analyzed. Finally, we construct the Monte Carlo simulation model to analyze different scenarios under disturbance. The results provide a basis for choosing corresponding process model variables in constructing the context table and show that appropriate brake strategies could prevent hazards in aircraft landing taxiing. 展开更多

A mathematical hydraulic support self-tracking model for three-machine cooperative mining is proposed to address low efficiency and difficulties in strategy evaluation of a fully mechanized coal face.The proposed model uses the coordinates and traction speed of the shearer to calculate the frequency of the circular hydraulic support and realize the coordinated operation of the three-machine mining technology.A unity3d hardware-in-the-loop simulation experimental hearer and hydraulic support platform was used to validate the model of autonomous follow-up.The results indicate that collaborative control of coal mining allowed for an efficiency 3.76%higher than under automatic operation mode and 46.03%higher than under manual control;thus,The mathematical model provided an improved production efficiency of the fully mechanized mining face.The mathematical model also provides a more intelligent and reliable security support,and improves the intelligent level of hydraulic support follow-up control. 展开更多

The Al-Cu wheel adopting the new Al alloy was prepared by the liquid-die forging,and the mechanical properties,composition distribution,microstructure and fracture behavior were investigated.The results showed that serious Cu segregation was found in the wheel specimen;the microstructure of the Al-Cu wheel was comprised of the casting microstructure and a small amount of the deformed microstructure;the best heat treatment and water quenching system were found to solution treated at(530±5)℃ for 4 h followed by(535±5)℃ for 24 h and aging treated at(155±5)℃ for 4 h;the fracture morphologies of the samples heated under T 6 and T 5-1 heat treatment showed flat,tough nest,and poor plastic characteristics;the fracture morphologies of the samples heated under T 4 heat treatment exhibited complete resilience,but no residual metallographic characteristic;the sample treated under T 4 protocol had the best elongation;the fracture failure was mainly due to the formation of the CuAl_(2)(θ)phases;and the fracture mechanism of the Al-Cu wheel was intergranular fracture. 展开更多

Reliable fabrication of micro/nanostructures with sub-10 nm features is of great significance for advancing nanoscience and nanotechnology.While the capability of current complementary metal-oxide semiconductor(CMOS)chip manufacturing can produce structures on the sub-10 nm scale,many emerging applications,such as nano-optics,biosensing,and quantum devices,also require ultrasmall features down to single digital nanometers.In these emerging applications,CMOS-based manufacturing methods are currently not feasible or appropriate due to the considerations of usage cost,material compatibility,and exotic features.Therefore,several specific methods have been developed in the past decades for different applications.In this review,we attempt to give a systematic summary on sub-10 nm fabrication methods and their related applications.In the first and second parts,we give a brief introduction of the background of this research topic and explain why sub-10 nm fabrication is interesting from both scientific and technological perspectives.In the third part,we comprehensively summarize the fabrication methods and classify them into three main approaches,including lithographic,mechanics-enabled,and post-trimming processes.The fourth part discusses the applications of these processes in quantum devices,nano-optics,and high-performance sensing.Finally,a perspective is given to discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with this research topic. 展开更多

The wheel loads of heavy trucks are the major source of pavement damage,given the repeated loadings imposed by them due to transient events and surface irregularities.While related studies focus on steady-state context regarding simplified vehicle’s parameters and ideal pavement conditions,this paper aims to analyze the vertical load applied to the pavement by considering cornering maneuver as a transient event,on a battery electric vehicle truck.In this concern,measurements were performed on a rigid truck,with two steering front axles,in a closed course proving ground.The relationship has been presented between vehicle’s speed,lateral acceleration and transferred vertical load for a given curve radius of 85.6 m and 3.7°of transversal slope.The measurements results indicated that for every 10 km/h increasing on the vehicle’s speed,additional 110 kgf will be transferred to the pavement on the outer side of the cornering radius.This value itself could not be considered high,but it will be also added to the static load,or overload in some truck applications. 展开更多

The wet multi-disc clutches are extensively used in various transmission systems,withone of the most prevalent failure modes being the buckling deformation of friction components.Animproved Hilbert-Huang transform method(IHHT)is proposed to address the limitations of tradi-tional time-domain vibration analyses,such as low accuracy and mode mixing.This paper first clas-sifies the buckling degree of the friction components.Next,wavelet packet transform(WPT)isapplied to the vibration signals of different buckling plates to partition them into distinct fre-quency bands.Then,the instantaneous features are extracted by empirical mode decomposition(EMD)and Hilbert transform(HT)to discarding extraneous intrinsic mode function(IMF)com-ponents.Comparative analyses of Hilbert spectral entropy and time-domain features confirm theenhanced precision of IHHT under specific classifiers,which is better than traditional methods. 展开更多

Electrolyte interface resistance and low ionic conductivity are essential issues for commercializing solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs).This work details the fabrication of a double-layer solid composite electrolyte(DLSCE)for SSLMBs.The composite comprises poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene)(PVDF-HFP)and poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA)combined with 10 wt.%of Li_(6.4)La_(3)Zr_(1.4)Ta_(0.6)O_(12)(LLZTO),synthesized through an ultraviolet curing process.The ionic conductivity of the DLSCE(2.6×10^(-4) S·cm^(-1))at room temperature is the high lithium-ion transference number(0.57),and the tensile strength is 17.8 MPa.When this DLSCE was assembled,the resulted LFP/DLSCE/Li battery exhibited excellent rate performance,with the discharge specific capacities of 162.4,146.9,93.6,and 64.0 mA·h·g^(-1) at 0.1,0.2,0.5,and 1 C,respectively.Furthermore,the DLScE demonstrates remarkable stability with lithium metal batteries,facilitating the stable operation of a Li/Li symmetric battery for over 200 h at both 0.1 and 0.2 mA-cm^(-2).Notably,the formation of lithium dendrites is also effectively inhibited during cycling.This work provides a novel design strategy and preparation method for solid composite electrolytes. 展开更多

Piezoelectric stages use piezoelectric actuators and flexure hinges as driving and amplifying mechanisms,respectively.These systems have high positioning accuracy and high-frequency responses,and they are widely used in various precision/ultra-precision positioning fields.However,the main challenge with these devices is the inherent hysteresis nonlinearity of piezoelectric actuators,which seriously affects the tracking accuracy of a piezoelectric stage.Inspired by this challenge,in this work,we developed a Hammerstein model to describe the hysteresis nonlinearity of a piezoelectric stage.In particular,in our proposed scheme,a feedback-linearization algorithm is used to eliminate the static hysteresis nonlinearity.In addition,a composite controller based on equivalent-disturbance compensation was designed to counteract model uncertainties and external disturbances.An analysis of the stability of a closed-loop system based on this feedback-linearization algorithm and composite controller was performed,and this was followed by extensive comparative experiments using a piezoelectric stage developed in the laboratory.The experimental results confirmed that the feedback-linearization algorithm and the composite controller offer improved linearization and trajectory-tracking performance. 展开更多

We utilize molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the microstructures of ions and polyelectrolytes in aqueous solutions under external electric fields.By focusing on the multi-body interactions between ionic components and H_(2)O molecules,as well as their responses to the external electric fields,we clarify several nontrivial molecular features of the ionic and polyelectrolyte solutions,such as the solvations of cations and anions,clustering of the ions,and dispersions/aggregations of polyelectrolyte chains,as well as the corresponding responses of H_(2)O molecules in these contexts.Our simulations illustrate the variations in structures of ionic solutions caused by reversing the charge sign of the ions,and elucidate the disparity in structures between anionic and cationic polyelectrolyte solutions in the presence of the external electric fields.This work clarifies the mechanism for the alternations in complex multi-body interactions in aqueous solutions caused by the application electric field,which can contribute to the fundamental understanding of the physical and chemical natures of ion-containing and charged polymeric systems. 展开更多

In this study, the precipitation transformation and age hardening of solution-treated Mg-9Gd-4Y-2Zn-0.5Zr(wt.%) alloy were investigated at different aging treatment parameters. The precipitation sequences of the alloy aged at 200℃, 250℃ and 300℃ are β’’(DO19) → β’(BCO) → β(FCC), β’’(DO19) → β’(BCO) → β_(1)(FCC) → β(FCC) and β(FCC), respectively. The streaks sequences of the alloy aged at 200℃, 250℃ and 300℃ are SF, SF → 14H-LPSO and SF → 14H-LPSO, respectively. For the alloy aged at 200℃ and 250℃, the increase in hardness with increasing aging time is contributed from the increase in precipitate volume fraction and the transformation from β’’ to β’ phase with basal → prismatic and spherical → spindle-like precipitate changes. The decrease in hardness after the peak-aging stage is attributed to the appearance of micro-sized β precipitates. Because of the smaller size of precipitates and the triangular arrangement of β’ precipitate, the hardness of the alloy aged at 200℃ is higher than that aged at 250℃. For the alloy aged at 300℃, the appearance of only micro-sized β precipitate and its coarsening with increasing aging time leads to the lowest hardness and an overall decrease in hardness with the aging time. 展开更多

Following operative treatment of chondrosarcoma,post-surgery tissue reconstruction may be confronted with daunting challenges,including the delayed self-repair of defective tissue,tumor recurrence,and bac-terial infection.To overcome these challenges,a methacrylic anhydride(MA)modified sericin(SerMA)solution mixed with procyanidins(PC)loaded polydopamine(PDA)modified ZIF-8(PC@ZIF-8@PDA)nanoparticles to form a multifunctional PC@ZIF-8@PDA/SerMA hydrogel after exposure under blue light.Hydrogel products with pre-designed shapes were printed out by using the SerMA solution carrying PC@ZIF-8@PDA nanoparticles and chondrocytes,indicating that PC@ZIF-8@PDA/SerMA hydrogels with personalized shapes can be fabricated via 3D printing.Photocrosslinked PC@ZIF-8@PDA/SerMA hydrogel is able to kill chondrosarcoma cells and bacteria,like Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus),and Escherichia coli(E.coli),by its photothermal activity combined with near-infrared radiation(NIR).The PC@ZIF-8@PDA/SerMA hydrogel exhibited an antioxidative activity and a good biocompatibility and was easily monitored by its florescent and photoacoustic properties.Rabbit articular cartilage defects were efficiently repaired by PC@ZIF-8@PDA/SerMA hydrogels with encapsulated corresponding autologous chondrocytes,and mice skin burning wounds were swiftly regenerated by applying this hydrogel.Hence,the PC@ZIF-8@PDA/SerMA hydrogel can be potentially applied to the clinic treatment of chondrosarcoma and tissue defect repair after chondrosarcoma resection due to its multifunction in the future. 展开更多

Recrystallization behavior during optimized heat treatments provides a potential to obtain desirable grain structure,which significantly improves the mechanical properties of aluminum alloys.The influence of grain structures on fatigue crack propagation(FCP)behaviors of Al-Cu-Li alloy with hot-rolled(HR)and cold-rolled(CR)was investigated.Subgrain boundaries have a significant impact on small crack growth rates,which is reflected in the pronounced fluctuation of fatigue crack growth of HR specimens after solution treatment.Moreover,the specific cellular structure within grains can improve the deformation capacity of alloys due to their accommodation of plastic deformation,which contributes to the lower fatigue crack growth rates and higher threshold values in HR specimens.The intragranular deflection also decelerates the FCP rate and occurs in these regions of large grain without subgrain boundaries.Recrystallization occurs in the CR specimens,resulting in small anisotropy on the fatigue resistance for the different orientations in the Paris stage due to the recrystallization texture.Fatigue cracks can be deflected and tend to propagate along the grain boundaries when it goes into the grain with a relatively low Schmidt factor value. 展开更多

The effectiveness of Ca or Gd addition on ductility and formability of Mg-Zn-Zr based dilute alloys in deep drawing has not been systematically compared previously.In this study,formable Mg-Zn-Gd-Zr and Mg-Zn-Ca-Zr sheet alloys are produced by hot rolling.These sheets have similarly weakened basal texture,but the sheet of the Mg-Zn-Gd-Zr alloys has higher ductility and formability than that of Mg-Zn-Ca-Zr alloys.The combined addition of 0.2wt%Ca and 0.4wt%Gd to the Mg-1Zn-0.5Zr(wt%)alloy leads to a Mg-1Zn-0.4Gd-0.2Ca-0.5Zr alloy that has even better ductility,and its formability during deep drawing is comparable to the benchmark Al6016 sheet.An increase in Ca content from 0.2wt%to 0.5wt%leads to decreased sheet ductility and formability,predominantly due to grain boundary embrittlement. 展开更多

The dense and accurate measurement of 3D texture is helpful in evaluating the pavement function.To form dense mandatory constraints and improve matching accuracy,the traditional binocular reconstruction technology was improved threefold.First,a single moving laser line was introduced to carry out global scanning constraints on the target,which would well overcome the difficulty of installing and recognizing excessive laser lines.Second,four kinds of improved algorithms,namely,disparity replacement,superposition synthesis,subregion segmentation,and subregion segmentation centroid enhancement,were established based on different constraint mechanism.Last,the improved binocular reconstruction test device was developed to realize the dual functions of 3D texture measurement and precision self-evaluation.Results show that compared with traditional algorithms,the introduction of a single laser line scanning constraint is helpful in improving the measurement’s accuracy.Among various improved algorithms,the improvement effect of the subregion segmentation centroid enhancement method is the best.It has a good effect on both overall measurement and single pointmeasurement,which can be considered to be used in pavement function evaluation. 展开更多

It is difficult to make full use of the electrical energy of the power battery for extended-range electric tractors because the battery’s state of charge may be relatively high at the end of the running mileage.To address this situation,this paper aimed to study the control parameter adjustment in relation to the power battery’s electrical consumption and the diesel engine’s fuel consumption energy management strategy.Based on the AVL-Cruise simulation platform,the vehicle model of the tractor was established,and the control module of AVL-Cruise was used to compile the energy management strategy.In order to verify the superiority of the proposed strategy,the contrast strategy was employed in terms of the diesel engine start and stop control plus fixed point energy management strategy(FPEMS).The applicability of the proposed strategy was tested through continuous transfer operation and the small area deep loosening operation.The simulation results show that the proposed strategy was of good applicability.Compared with the FPEMS,the fuel consumption reduced significantly,and the electrical consumption of the power battery increased obviously. 展开更多

The flow stress behaviors of squeeze casting SiCp/2A50 matrix composites were investigated by means of compression tests on a Gleeble 1500 therma1 mechanical simulator at isothermal constant strain rates ranging from of 0.001 to 1.0 with the testing temperature ranging from 350 to 500 ℃. The experiments showed that the relationship between stress and strain was obviously influenced by the strain rate and temperature. Dynamic recrystallization generally occurred at a higher temperature and a 1ower strain rate. A linear equation could be fitted between the Zener-Hollomon parameter Z and stress in the experiments. The mean value reciprocal of temperature at every true strain had a linear relation with natural logarithm of Z parameter, and the correlation coefficient, R=0.99, which was very significant by examination. The hot deformation activation energy of SiCp/2A50 matrix composites was 163.47 KJ/mol by calculation. 展开更多

Environmental wind measurements are essential for ensuring the operational safety of rail vehicles.In our previous work,al anemometer that can be mounted on the top of a train to achieve real-time measurements of wind speed and direction was proposed based on the pressure distributions around the cylindrical anemometer.However,the flow field on the top of the train is significantly influenced by the train;thus,the measured data might differ from the actual environmental wind parameters,particularly when trains are subjected to windbreak walls.In this study,simulations considering flow fields around trains installed with the proposed anemometer were conducted,and an improved delayed detached eddy simulation approach was adopted.Through simulations,the flow feld at the top of the train was analysed,and the aerodynamic characteristics of the anemometer were investigated.Accord-ingly,relationships between the measured wind characteristics and environmental wind characteristics are presented under various situations herein.Field experiments were performed for the proposed anemometer installed on a certain type of high-speed train along the Nanjiang Railway in China.The results obtained from both the numerical and experimental studies show that the proposed method has high accuracy for measuring environmental wind speed and direction when mounted on the top of a train. 展开更多
