The appearance of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)variant Omicron(B.1.1.529)has caused panic responses around the world because of its high transmission rate and number of mutations.This rev...The appearance of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)variant Omicron(B.1.1.529)has caused panic responses around the world because of its high transmission rate and number of mutations.This review summarizes the highly mutated regions,the essential infectivity,transmission,vaccine breakthrough and antibody resistance of the Omicron variant of SARSCoV-2.The Omicron is highly transmissible and is spreading faster than any previous variant,but may cause less severe symptoms than previous variants.The Omicron is able to escape the immune system’s defenses and coronavirus disease 2019 vaccines are less effective against the Omicron variant.Early careful preventive steps including vaccination will always be key for the suppression of the Omicron variant.展开更多
AIM:To test the pathogenicity of pseudorabies virus(PRV)variant HN1201 and compare its pathogenicity with a classical PRV Fa strain.METHODS:The pathogenicity of the newly-emerging PRV variant HN1201 was evaluated by d...AIM:To test the pathogenicity of pseudorabies virus(PRV)variant HN1201 and compare its pathogenicity with a classical PRV Fa strain.METHODS:The pathogenicity of the newly-emerging PRV variant HN1201 was evaluated by different inoculating routes,virus loads,and ages of pigs.The classical PRV Fa strain was then used to compare with HN1201 to determine pathogenicity.Clinical symptoms after virus infection were recorded daily and average daily body weight was used to measure the growth performance of pigs.At necropsy,gross pathology and histopathology were used to evaluate the severity of tissue damage caused by virus infection.RESULTS:The results showed that the efficient infection method of RPV HN1201 was via intranasal inoculation at 107 TCID50,and that the virus has high pathogenicity to 35-to 127-d old pigs.Compared with Fa strain,pigs infected with HN1201 showed more severe clinical symptoms and pathological lesions.Immunochemistry results revealed HN1201 had more abundant antigen distribution in extensive organs.CONCLUSION:All of the above results suggest that PRV variant HN1201 was more pathogenic to pigs than the classical Fa strain.展开更多

Methods: Ninety-four patients who had confirmed the diagnosis of CVA were ...To observe the clinical efficacy and the change of airway responsiveness to Chinese medicine (CM) in treating cough variant asthma (CVA). Methods: Ninety-four patients who had confirmed the diagnosis of CVA were selected and randomly assigned to the treatment group and the control group by the blocked randomization method. The ratio of the two groups was 2:1. The treatment group had 63 patients that were treated by CM, lost in 10 cases, 53 patients had finished the trial. The control group had 31 patients that were treated by montelukast tablets and theophylline, lost in 5 cases, 26 patients had finished the trial, two weeks as one therapeutic course. The syndrome efficacy, cough efficacy, symptom score and the airway responsiveness between two groups were observed. Results: The comparison of the syndrome efficacy: the total effective rate of the treatment group was 90.57% and the control group was 76.92%, and the two groups were significantly different (P〈0.05). The comparison of the cough efficacy: the total effective rate of the treatment group was 98.11% and the control group was 80.77%, and the two groups were also significantly different (P〈0.05). Syndrome scoring and cough scoring were all significantly lowered, but the airway responsiveness was not significantly lowered. Conclusions: The treatment of CM could ease the cough, improve the syndrome, and shows obvious advantages compared with the control group, which is worthy of extensive clinical application.展开更多

The key transcriptional activators of heat shock response in eukaryotes, the heat shock factors (HSFs), have undergone large-scale gene amplification in plants. While HSFs are central in heat stress responses, their role in the response to ambient temperature changes is less well understood. We show here that the warm ambient temperature transcriptome is dependent upon the HSFA1 clade ofArabidopsis HSFs, which cause a rapid and dynamic eviction of H2A.Z nucleosomes at target genes. A transcriptional cascade results in the activation of multiple downstream stress-responsive transcription factors, triggering large-scale changes to the transcriptome in response to elevated temperature. H2A.Z nucleosomes are enriched at temperature-responsive genes at non-inducible temperature, and thus likely confer inducibility of gene expression and higher responsive dynamics. We propose that the antagonistic effects of H2A.Z and HSF1 provide a mechanism to activate gene expression rapidly and precisely in response to temperature, while preventing leaky transcription in the absence of an activation signal.展开更多
