Different from traditional studies, this thesis is not a simple theoretical analysis of genetic determinism and environmental determinism in the novel’s plots. It attempts to combine the historical background and the author’s life experience to analyze how the author is deeply influenced by naturalism and pays close attention to Jack London’s contradictory philosophy of life and Fatalism. During this process, Nietzsche compares three metamorphoses of spirit to camel, lion, and child. Child is the sign of arrival of superman.
