The polyacrylamide/bentonite composite (PAA-B) was prepared by intercalative polymerization of acrylamide with Nabentonite in the presence of N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide as a crosslinking agent and hexamethylenediammine as propagater. PAA-B was subsequently treated with ethylenediammine to increase its loading capacity for HA. The surface characterizations of the adsorbent were investigated. The adsorbent behaved like a cation exchanger and more than 99.0% removal of dyes was detected at pH range 6.0-8.0. The capacity of HA-Am-PAA-B was found to decrease in the following order: MG〉MB〉CV. The kinetic and isotherm data were interpreted by pseudo-second order rate equation and Freundlich isotherm model, respectively. Experiments were carried out using binary solute systems to assess the competitive adsorption phenomenon. The experimental isotherm data for each binary solute combination of MG, MB and CV were analyzed using Sheindrof-Rebhun-Sheintuch (SRS) (multicomponent Freundlich type) equation.展开更多

Microcellular closed-cell foams are produced with the relative density ranging from 0.38 to 0.97. The effects of the processing conditions on the density, morphology, and flexural properties of ABS and its nanocomposite foams are studied. It is found that nanoclay particles, as nucleating sites, play an important role in reducing the size of cells and increasing their number in the unit volume of foamed polymer, as well as increasing the flexural modulus of foam through reinforcing its matrix.展开更多

Well-ordered multilayer films were deposited by the spin-assisted layer-by-layer assembly method using photocrosslinkable poly(vinyl alcohol) with the N-methyl-4(4'-formylstyryl)pyridinium methosulfate acetal group (SbQ-PVA) and Na+-montmorillonite in a water-based solution process. When photocrosslinked, these SbQ-PVA/clay multilayers were found to serve as excellent barriers to 02 and UV-light. Moreover, when used as passivation layers, they enhanced the stability of pen- tacene OTFT devices exposed to air and UV radiation.展开更多

Three different molecular weights PP samples are taken and filled with nanoclay of 1 wt% and 3 wt%, and these nanocomposites were synthesized by using an extrusion or casting methods. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) is used to characterize the structure and morphology of nanocomposites. Rheological and mechanical results show that the extruded products are better than that of cast products. The outcome of this work is discussed in this paper.展开更多
