Many previous and classical results can be considered as particular cases of this paper, such as the solutions of the fractional diffusion equations obtained by Wyss; the classical Rayleigh’s time-space similarity solution; the relationship between stress field and velocity field obtained by Bagley and co-worker and Podlubny’s results on the fractional motion equation of a plate. In addition, a lot of significant results also are obtained. For example, the necessary condition for causing the vortex sheet is that the time fractional diffusion index β must be greater than that of generalized second order fluid α; the establiihment of the vorticity distribution function depends on the time history of the velocity profile at a given point, and the time history can be described by the fractional calculus.展开更多

To represent a crack with gap as a nonlinear unidirectional rotational spring, the equivalent flexural rigidity of the cracked beam is derived with the generalized Dirac delta function. A closed-form general solution is obtained for bending of a Timoshenko beam with an arbitrary number of switching cracks. Three examples of bending of the Timoshenko beam are presented. The influence of the beam's slenderness ratio, the crack's depth, and the external load on the crack state and bending performances of the cracked beam is analyzed. It is revealed that a cusp exists on the deflection curve, and a jump on the rotation angle curve occurs at a crack location. The relation between the beam's deflection and load is bilinear, each part corresponding to an open or closed state of crack, respectively. When the crack is open, flexibility of the cracked beam decreases with the increase of the beam's slenderness ratio and the decrease of the crack depth. The results are useful in identifying non-destructive cracks on a beam.展开更多

Based on the structure of solutions and biological interpretations, the model could be classified into eight cases (three categories) at all and among them only 4 kinds of cases are suitable in forestry that represent four typical growth patterns of trees and stands. For each of 4 equations, the model properties and biological interpretations for parameters were discussed in detail. The generalized Chapman-Richards model was capable of describing a wide range of growth curves that was asymptotic or nonasymptotic, with or without inflection point. In order to illustrate the versatility of the model, it was fitted to a group of data sets concerning the DBH growth of cryptomeria plantations with 4 initial densities and the DBH and height growth of natural Korean pine tree. Comparing the generalized Chapman-Richards function and the Schnute model, it was found that the parameters and expressions of the two models were interchangeable in theory, and the fitting results were explicitly identical in empirical applications.展开更多

First of all, we introduce the pointwise estimates of the time-asymptotic shape of the solutions of the isentropic Navier-Stokes equations and show to exhibit the generalized Huygen's principle. Then, for other nonlinear dissipative evolution equations, we will only introduce the result and give some brief explanations. Our approach is based on the detailed analysis of the Green's function of the linearized system and micro-local analysis, such as frequency decomposition and so on.展开更多

Entransy theory and generalized constructal optimization are introduced into the optimization. Total water flow amount(WFA) in the laminar cooling zone(LCZ) and complex function are taken as the constraint and optimization objective, respectively. The entransy dissipation(ED) and maximum temperature different(MTD) of the strip are simultaneously considered in the complex function. WFA distributions of the headers in the LCZ are optimized. The effects of the total WFA, strip thickness and cooling water temperature on the optimal results are analyzed. The optimal cooling scheme is the eleventh cooling mode for the considered total 257 cooling schemes, and the complex function,ED and MTD of the strip are decreased by 11.59%, 5.59% and 17.58% compared with the initial cooling scheme, respectively. The total WFA and strip thickness have the obvious influences on the optimal cooing scheme, but the cooling water temperature has no influence in the parameter analysis range of this paper. The "generalized optimal construct" derived by minimum complex function shows a compromise between the energy retention and quality of the strip.展开更多
