Image restoration phase-filtering lateral superresolution confocal microscopy, a new approach, is proposed to achieve lateral superresolution using a confoeal microscope. This approach uses a lateral superresolution pupil filter to preliminarily improve its lateral resolution and uses a siagle-image superresolution restoration technique based on a maximum likelihood estimate to further improve its lateral resolution. The new approach has the advantages of a low cost and the remarkable superresolution effect without excessive system complexity. Experiments indicate that the proposed approach can improve the lateral resolution of a confocal microscope from 0.3μm to less than 0.1 μm when λ = 632.8 nm and NA=0.85. 展开更多

This study is designed to investigate the suitability of selected Nigeria clay deposit for clay based ceramic water filters (CWFs). Clay samples were taken from five randomly selected locations in Nigeria Namely: Okpella (Edo<sup>1</sup>) and Ojirami (Edo<sup>2</sup>) in Edo;Ikere in Ekiti state;FUTA in Ondo state and Onibode in Ogun to determine their suitability for clay based ceramic water filters (CWFs). Experimental analysis for linear shrinkage, water absorption, bulk density, compressive strength X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) was carried out on each of the clay samples. Test results reveal that all the clays contain high contents of alumina (Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>) and silica (SiO<sub>2</sub>) with minor contents of P<sub>2</sub>O<sub>5</sub>, Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>, MgO, K<sub>2</sub>O, MnO and TiO<sub>2</sub>. The average crystal sizes of the clay were between 15 and 27 nm. Lattice structure indicates that the sample is Monoclinic and Anorthic. Ceramic water filters (CWFs) were made from a mixture of clay and sawdust at different volume ratios, and processed into test samples. Water absorption, linear shrinkage and compressive strength of the clay based ceramic filters (CWFs), reveal that as the volume ratio of sawdust increases these properties decrease. Flow rate analysis indicates that Edo and Ekiti ceramic water filters (CWFs) have higher flow rates. The research indicates that Edo and Ekiti Clay with specification of some industrial clays shows that the samples can be recommended for use in clay based ceramic water filters production. 展开更多

This work proposes a new direct flourimetric methodology for cadmium traces quantification based on its association with azo-reagent SPADNS and rhodamine B dye. Experimental variables that influence on fluorimetric sensibility were optimized using uni-variation assays. The calibration graph using zeroth order calibration was linear from 0.192 to 1.26 104 μg.L-1, with a correlation coefficient of 0.99. Under the optimal conditions, it was obtained a limit of detection of 0.057 μg.L-1 and a limit of quantification of 0.192 μg.L-1. The method showed good sensitivity, adequate selectivity with good tolerance to foreign ions, and was applied to the determination of trace amounts of cadmium in filters leachates coming from unsmoked, automatically smoked and smokers smoked cigarettes with satisfactory results. The proposed method represents an innovative application of luminescence to metal analysis comparable in sensitivity and accuracy to atomic spectroscopies. 展开更多
