The densification of the compacts and the microstructures of the prepared alloys were studied. The results demonstrate that the liquid phase is formed around 1300 ℃ and nearly full densification is obtained at 1450 ℃ for 5 min via microwave irradiation. The microstructures of microwave sintered samples have finer and more uniform WC grains than those of vacuum sintered samples. Besides, the WC grain size and distribution are only decided by the sintering temperature. Holding time has negligible effects on them. No matter how holding time is, the mean grain size is 2.7 pan when the sintering temperature is kept at 1450 ℃.展开更多

The tensile and fracture properties of 15 vol% SiCp/ 2009Al were studied. The results showed that hot extrusion increased the ultimate tensile strength (UTS), yield strength (YS), elongation (EL), reduction in area (RA), and fracture toughness of the composites. The heat treatment resulted in the increase in UTS, YS, and fracture toughness, but a decrease in EL and RA. Both hot extrusion and heat treatment had negligible effects on elastic modulus (E). With the increase of SiCp size, the UTS, YS, and E decreased, but the EL and RA increased. The grain-size dependence of wear resistance of WC-Co cemented carbides(with mean WC grain sizes of 2.2μm,1.6μm,0.8μm and 0.4μm,respectively)was investigated under different tribological conditions.The results sho...The grain-size dependence of wear resistance of WC-Co cemented carbides(with mean WC grain sizes of 2.2μm,1.6μm,0.8μm and 0.4μm,respectively)was investigated under different tribological conditions.The results showed that the grain size had opposite effects on wear resistance of the cemented carbides in dry sliding wear and microabrasion tests.In the former condition,with decrease of WC grain size hence the increase of hardness,plastic deformation,fracture,fragmentation and oxidation were all mitigated,leading to a drastic decrease in the wear rate.In the latter condition,pull-out of WC grains after Co removal dominated the wear,so that the hardness of cemented carbide was not a core factor.As a result,the wear resistance of the cemented carbide generally showed a decreasing trend with decrease of the grain size,except for a slight increase in the ultrafine-grained cemented carbide.Single-pass scratching of the cemented carbides under various loads indicated the same failure mechanism as that in the sliding wear tests.Furthermore,the reasons for severe surface oxidation of the coarse-grained cemented carbides were disclosed.展开更多
