First, it is proved that the solutions to these two systems converge to the unique stationary solution time asymptotically without the smallness assump- tion on doping profile. Then, very sharp estimates on the smooth solutions, independent of the relaxation time, are obtained and used to establish the zero relaxation limit.展开更多

We firstly derive the exact tail asymptoties for the maximum MH*(T) = max(τ,s)∈[a,b]×[0,T] ZH(τ, s)/τH of the standardised fractional Brownian motion field, with any fixed 0 〈 a 〈 b 〈 ∞ and T 〉 0; and we, furthermore, extend the obtained result to the ease that T is a positive random variable independent of {BH(s), s ≥ 0}. As a by-product, we obtain the Gumbel limit law for MH*r(T) as T →∞.展开更多

For infinite number of terms the sum infinite is obtained by taking the asymptotic limit of the rational polynomial. A rational function with second-degree polynomials both in the numerator and denominator is found to produce excellent results. Sums of series with different characteristics such as alternating signs are considered for testing the performance of the proposed approach.展开更多

The model is analyzed using stability theory of differential equa- tions. Positive equilibrium points of the system are investigated and their stability analysis is carried out. Moreover, the numerical simulation of the proposed model is also performed by using fourth order Runge- Kutta method which supports the theoretical findings. It is found that both infected and uninfected tumor cells and hence tumor load can be eliminated with time, and complete recovery is possible because of virus therapy, if certain conditions are satisfied. It is further found that the system appears to exhibit periodic limit cycles and chaotic attractors for some ranges of the system parameters.展开更多

Firstly we approximate the scattering coefficients and source terms by piecewise constants determined by their cell averages. Then for each cell, following the work of De Barros and Larsen [1, 19], the solution at the cell edge is approximated by its average along the edge. As a result, the solution of the system of equations for the cell edge averages in each cell can be obtained analytically. Finally, we piece together the numerical solution with the neighboring cells using the interface conditions. When there is no interface or boundary layer, this method is asymptotic-preserving, which implies that coarse meshes (meshes that do not resolve the mean free path) can be used to obtain good numerical approximations. Moreover, the uniform first-order convergence with respect to the mean free path is shown numerically and the rigorous proof is provided.展开更多

We first introduce the Bloch-Wigner transform and derive the asymptotic equations governing this transform in the semi-classical setting. For the second part, we focus on the appearance of the Berry curvature terms in the asymptotic equations. These terms play a crucial role in many important physical phenomena such as the quantum Hall effect. We give a simple derivation of these terms in different settings using asymptotic analysis.展开更多
