We focused on prepar...In this study, we thoroughly examined the impact of heat treatments and hole count (p) on the properties of LnSrBaCu<sub>3</sub>O<sub>6+z</sub> (Ln = Eu, Sm, Nd) compounds. We focused on preparation, X-ray diffraction with Rietveld refinement, AC susceptibility, DC resistivity measurements, and heat treatment effects. Two heat treatment types were applied: oxygen annealing [O] and argon annealing followed by oxygen annealing [AO]. As the rare earth Ln’s ionic radius increased, certain parameters notably changed. Specifically, c parameter, surface area S, and volume V increased, while critical temperature Tc and holes (p) in the CuO<sub>2</sub> plane decreased. The evolution of these parameters with rare earth Ln’s ionic radius in [AO] heat treatment is linear. Regardless of the treatment, the structure is orthorhombic for Ln = Eu, tetragonal for Ln = Nd, orthorhombic for Ln = Sm [AO], and pseudo-tetragonal for Sm [O]. The highest critical temperature is reached with Ln = Eu (Tc [AO] = 87.1 K). Notably, for each sample, Tc [AO] surpasses Tc [O]. Observed data stems from factors including rare earth ionic size, improved cationic and oxygen chain order, holes count p in Cu(2)O<sub>2</sub> planes, and in-phase purity of [AO] samples. Our research strives to clearly demonstrate that the density of holes (p) within the copper plane stands as a determinant impacting the structural, electrical, and superconducting properties of these samples. YBaCuO/Ag composites have been grown by the modified me...We have investigated the phase equilibria in (RE)BaCuO/Ag systems, the influence of Ag on the processing of (RE)BaCuO/Ag composites and the resulting properties. YBaCuO/Ag composites have been grown by the modified melt crystallization process with YBa2Cu3O7, Y2O3, Pt and Ag2O in the precursor. The improved strength of the YBaCuO/Ag composites compared with the conventional YBaCuO bulk material permitted us to magnetize these materials to achieve trapped fields up to 16 T (at 24 K) in the gap of a mini-magnet. The investigation of the microstructure revealed a remarkable increase of the spacing between micro-cracks especially of those perpendicular to a/b-planes when 12wt%Ag was added. In the case of SmBaCuO/Ag composites, Ag has a strong influence on processing and causes interactions between RE123 seeds and the sample. We show the growth of single-grain SmBaCuO/Ag composites in air and discuss the influence of post-annealing on increasing Tc and Jc. Furthermore, YBaCuO/Ag composites have been shown to be appropriate materials used as a solder to join large single grains to large arrays or to 'repair' grain boundaries in arrays grown by a multiseeding technique.展开更多
A single-channel high-Tc dc-SQUID magnetometer and gradiometer have been developed to record the magnetic field component perpendicular to the human chest generated by heart-beat. Magnetocardiogram (MCG) measurements ...A single-channel high-Tc dc-SQUID magnetometer and gradiometer have been developed to record the magnetic field component perpendicular to the human chest generated by heart-beat. Magnetocardiogram (MCG) measurements have been carried out inside a magnetically shielded room. By sequentially adjusting a non-magnetic patient table with 5 cm pitch in X and Y directions, the field signals on a rectangle grid 5×5 over the chest area were registered in real time trace point by point with a typical dwell time over 30 cardiocycles each. Utilizing standard electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings as timing reference measured simultaneously with the MCG signals, the MCG data were then averaged and combined to form magnetic field patterns every 10 ms or so. Both the current dipole, which is parallel to MCG measuring plane and produces the vertical magnetic field, and its depth were determined as a function of time in a standard way. In this article I give a pedagogical illustration of why the essential problem of high-Tc superconductivity in the cuprates is about how an antiferromagnetically ordered state can be turned into a short-range state by...In this article I give a pedagogical illustration of why the essential problem of high-Tc superconductivity in the cuprates is about how an antiferromagnetically ordered state can be turned into a short-range state by doping. I will start with half-filling where the antiferromagnetic ground state is accurately described by the Liang Doucot-Anderson (LDA) wavefunction. Here the effect of the Fermi statistics becomes completely irrelevant due to the no double occupancy constraint. Upon doping, the statistical signs reemerge, albeit much reduced as compared to the original Fermi sta- tistical signs. By precisely incorporating this altered statistical sign structure at finite doping, the LDA ground state can be recast into a short-range antiferromagnetic state. Superconducting phase coherence arises after the spin correlations become short-ranged, and the superconducting phase transition is controlled by spin excitations. I will stress that the pseudogap phenomenon naturally emerges as a crossover between the antiferromagnetic and superconducting phases. As a characteristic of non Fermi liquid, the mutual statistical interaction between the spin and charge degrees of freedom will reach a maximum in a high-temperature "strange metal phase" of the doped Mott insulator.展开更多

These superconductors with high density have Jc value in excess of 1.6×104 A/cm2 (77K, zero field) determined by using a d.c. standard four terminal method with the criterion of lμV/cm. The XRD and fractograph analysis revealed that the texture existed in whole MTG-processed YBaCuO sample which consists of the layered and plate-like grains of matrix phase YBa2Cu3Oy unidirectionally aligned along its (103) planes. The experimental results indicated that the connectivity between superconducting grains has been improved greatly and the weak-link problem has been overcome essentially.展开更多

The super-space group is N111Bbmb with three-di...The incommensurate modulated structure of the Bi2Sr2Ca1Cu2Oy high-Tc superocnductor has been studied by direct methods with X-ray diffraction data from a single crystal. The super-space group is N111Bbmb with three-dimensional unit cell parameters a = 0.54222 nm, b=0.5437 nm, c=3.0537 run, α=β=γ=90° andthemodula-tion wave vector q=(0, 0.22, 1). 543 main reflections, 867 first-order and 469 second-order satellite reflections have been observed. Phases of main reflections are derived by a conventional direct-method program SAPI91. The phases of satellite reflections are derived by the program DIMS running with default control based on the known phases of main reflections. The atomic parameters of the basic structure and of the modulation so obtained consist with the results from other authors. For the first time the structure details of the incommensurate modulation in the Bi-2212 phase are observed directly without relying on any assumed model of modulation.展开更多

Substitution of V5+ for Cu2+ occurs in the Cu(2) sites on the Cu(2)-O planes. The introduction of the high valence element, vanadium, produces the extra free-electrons. These electrons recombine with the positive carrier of the system. It makes depression of the mobility and the Hall number of YBa2Cu3-xVxO7-v and also results in a depression of TC.展开更多

There were many pa-rameters affecting the preparation technique such as oxygen flow, si...The high temperature superconductor of CuBa2Ca2Cu3O8+δ(Cu-1223) was synthesized experimentally by solid-state reaction. There were many pa-rameters affecting the preparation technique such as oxygen flow, sintering temperature, sintering time, and compacted pressure. The XRD-pattern exhibited a tetragonal phase for both Cu-1223, and Cu-1212. The resistivity measurement was considered the important experiment to show the predominant phase of superconductor if it was a high phase or low phase. The critical temperature (Tc) was about (128 K) for the high phase of Cu-1223, whereas the low phase of (Cu-1212) appeared at (Tc = 64 K). The correlation between the Miller indices and resistivity measurements was a good tool to predicate the expected mechanism of conductivity within the unit cell. It was clear that the arrangement of these planes was aligned in the a-c direction. That should make the motion of the charge to be simpler by a stepping plane toward c-axis.展开更多
YBa_(2)Cu_(3)O_(y)(YBCO)foam samples show an open,porous foam structure,which may have benefits for many applications of high-Tc superconductors.As the basic material of these foams is a pseudo-single crystalline mate...YBa_(2)Cu_(3)O_(y)(YBCO)foam samples show an open,porous foam structure,which may have benefits for many applications of high-Tc superconductors.As the basic material of these foams is a pseudo-single crystalline material with the directional growth initiated by a seed crystal similar to standard melt-textured samples,the texture of YBCO is a very important parameter.Therefore,we analysed the local texture and grain orientation of the individual struts forming the foam by means of atomic force microscopy(AFM)and electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD).Due to the processing route starting with Y_(2)BaCuO_(5)(211),a two-phase analysis must be performed,so a high surface quality is necessary to enable an automated EBSD scan.Good quality Kikuchi patterns were obtained from both the YBCO and 211 phases.We found an inhomogeneous distribution of the residual 211 particles,which are mainly randomly oriented and have sizes ranging between 200 nm and 15μm.In contrast to this,the YBCO matrix shows a dominating orientation with cracks with a typical distance of 1-10μm.Furthermore,the analysis of strut cross-sections reveals that the entire strut is converted to the YBCO phase.展开更多

文摘In this article I give a pedagogical illustration of why the essential problem of high-Tc superconductivity in the cuprates is about how an antiferromagnetically ordered state can be turned into a short-range state by doping. I will start with half-filling where the antiferromagnetic ground state is accurately described by the Liang Doucot-Anderson (LDA) wavefunction. Here the effect of the Fermi statistics becomes completely irrelevant due to the no double occupancy constraint. Upon doping, the statistical signs reemerge, albeit much reduced as compared to the original Fermi sta- tistical signs. By precisely incorporating this altered statistical sign structure at finite doping, the LDA ground state can be recast into a short-range antiferromagnetic state. Superconducting phase coherence arises after the spin correlations become short-ranged, and the superconducting phase transition is controlled by spin excitations. I will stress that the pseudogap phenomenon naturally emerges as a crossover between the antiferromagnetic and superconducting phases. As a characteristic of non Fermi liquid, the mutual statistical interaction between the spin and charge degrees of freedom will reach a maximum in a high-temperature "strange metal phase" of the doped Mott insulator.
文摘In this study, high-Tc YBaCuO superconductors with high Jc value were prepared using MTG(melting-textured growth) method. These superconductors with high density have Jc value in excess of 1.6×104 A/cm2 (77K, zero field) determined by using a d.c. standard four terminal method with the criterion of lμV/cm. The XRD and fractograph analysis revealed that the texture existed in whole MTG-processed YBaCuO sample which consists of the layered and plate-like grains of matrix phase YBa2Cu3Oy unidirectionally aligned along its (103) planes. The experimental results indicated that the connectivity between superconducting grains has been improved greatly and the weak-link problem has been overcome essentially.

文摘On microscopic and microstructural levels, the relations between high Tc superconductivity and percolation have been discussed. On the microscopic level, the critical oxygen concentration in YBa2Cu3O7 with Tc around 90 K has been obtained in terms of percolation. On the microstruc(?)ural level, the percolation considerations have provided, usefully theoretical basis for materials design of metal/high-Tc superconducting phase ( nonmetal) composites.

文摘The incommensurate modulated structure of the Bi2Sr2Ca1Cu2Oy high-Tc superocnductor has been studied by direct methods with X-ray diffraction data from a single crystal. The super-space group is N111Bbmb with three-dimensional unit cell parameters a = 0.54222 nm, b=0.5437 nm, c=3.0537 run, α=β=γ=90° andthemodula-tion wave vector q=(0, 0.22, 1). 543 main reflections, 867 first-order and 469 second-order satellite reflections have been observed. Phases of main reflections are derived by a conventional direct-method program SAPI91. The phases of satellite reflections are derived by the program DIMS running with default control based on the known phases of main reflections. The atomic parameters of the basic structure and of the modulation so obtained consist with the results from other authors. For the first time the structure details of the incommensurate modulation in the Bi-2212 phase are observed directly without relying on any assumed model of modulation.

文摘YBa2Cu3-xVxO7-y(x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6) superconductors have been prepared. X-ray diffraction shows that the system remains orthorhombic for all compositions studied, but for x > 0.4 V2O5 was detected as an impurity phase. Substitution of V5+ for Cu2+ occurs in the Cu(2) sites on the Cu(2)-O planes. The introduction of the high valence element, vanadium, produces the extra free-electrons. These electrons recombine with the positive carrier of the system. It makes depression of the mobility and the Hall number of YBa2Cu3-xVxO7-v and also results in a depression of TC.
文摘The temperature dependent Fe Mossbauer and X-ray diffraction measurement on Bi-system 2:2:2:3 phase have been carried out from 77 K to 300 K. It was found that there are two anomalous behaviors of lattice vibrational modes near 125 K and 220 K. This phenomena of lattice softening above Tc is taken as a precursor effect of superconductivity.

文摘The calculations of clusters modeling the fluorine-doping and oxygen deficiency of YBa2Cu3O2,have been performed by the method of all-electron ab initio Hartree-Fock with self-consistent crystal field Results show that in CuO planes electric charge significantly increases,the chemical valence of Cu decreases and the covalent bonding of Cu-O greatly weakens owing to oxygen deficiency,while the effect of F restores the local electronic structure of YBa2Cu3O7 The reported opinion that F occupied the oxygen vacancy in Cu-O chains seems disputable according to the calculated bonding characteristics.
文摘The high temperature superconductor of CuBa2Ca2Cu3O8+δ(Cu-1223) was synthesized experimentally by solid-state reaction. There were many pa-rameters affecting the preparation technique such as oxygen flow, sintering temperature, sintering time, and compacted pressure. The XRD-pattern exhibited a tetragonal phase for both Cu-1223, and Cu-1212. The resistivity measurement was considered the important experiment to show the predominant phase of superconductor if it was a high phase or low phase. The critical temperature (Tc) was about (128 K) for the high phase of Cu-1223, whereas the low phase of (Cu-1212) appeared at (Tc = 64 K). The correlation between the Miller indices and resistivity measurements was a good tool to predicate the expected mechanism of conductivity within the unit cell. It was clear that the arrangement of these planes was aligned in the a-c direction. That should make the motion of the charge to be simpler by a stepping plane toward c-axis.

文摘YBa_(2)Cu_(3)O_(y)(YBCO)foam samples show an open,porous foam structure,which may have benefits for many applications of high-Tc superconductors.As the basic material of these foams is a pseudo-single crystalline material with the directional growth initiated by a seed crystal similar to standard melt-textured samples,the texture of YBCO is a very important parameter.Therefore,we analysed the local texture and grain orientation of the individual struts forming the foam by means of atomic force microscopy(AFM)and electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD).Due to the processing route starting with Y_(2)BaCuO_(5)(211),a two-phase analysis must be performed,so a high surface quality is necessary to enable an automated EBSD scan.Good quality Kikuchi patterns were obtained from both the YBCO and 211 phases.We found an inhomogeneous distribution of the residual 211 particles,which are mainly randomly oriented and have sizes ranging between 200 nm and 15μm.In contrast to this,the YBCO matrix shows a dominating orientation with cracks with a typical distance of 1-10μm.Furthermore,the analysis of strut cross-sections reveals that the entire strut is converted to the YBCO phase.
