Liquid Al is used as a reference system. It is found that a pre peak appears on the small angle part of the structure factor of the nonsuperheated hypoeutectic Al Fe alloy, but disappears after superheating whereas the structure factors of liquid Al hardly change with the different thermal histories, and no pre peak can be observed on them. The appearance of a pre peak is a mark of the intermediate range order (IRO). The pre peak is taken as the correlation between Fe atoms on the IRO length scale. Assume that the crystalline structure is the first order approximation of the liquid structure. A model structure is constructed. The basic unit is a cube formed by 8 Al atoms on its corner and one Fe atom occupying its center. The translation of such a unit along its fourbody diagonals by the length of a diagonal can meet the requirement of the Fe_Fe distance and gives a DO 3 like structure. If the vacancy among the units is filled with fcc like Al cells, the composition of the entity is about Al 7Fe, close to that of the metastable phase Al 6Fe from rapid solidification. It is speculated that there are Al 6Fe like clusters in the liquid hypoeutectic Al Fe alloy.展开更多

The sidebands position is det...The intensity and position of sidebands (satellites) on both sides of main diffraction peak in a great number of X-ray diffraction profiles of alloys always change with progress of aging. The sidebands position is determined by a newly optimized Voigt function in present investigation. Furthermore, for Cu-4 wt pet Ti alloy aged at 400℃ for 720 min and 1080 min, after introducing the weight factor of above two satellites intensity, the relative error between the fitting curves and X-ray diffraction profiles is less than 0.185%, which is more precise than the previously calculating result.展开更多

Synchrotron radiation-based micro-Laue technique has showcased great application potentials in materials science study for its unprecedented crystal orientation and lattice strain/stress resolution.Here we report the ...Synchrotron radiation-based micro-Laue technique has showcased great application potentials in materials science study for its unprecedented crystal orientation and lattice strain/stress resolution.Here we report the updated progress in the development of the micro-Laue technique on the X-ray test beamline at Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility.So far,40μm(h)×50μm(v)X-ray beam spot is routinely obtained,with the convergent angle of 0.2 mrad(h)×0.12 mrad(v).Area scans are conducted on a GH3535 Nibased superalloy base metal and weld joint with the same chemical composition.By analyzing the tremendous amount of Laue diffraction patterns using in-house developed software packages,the crystal orientation,elastic strain,and defect distributions are mapped and investigated.Such a successful proof-of-principle study offers first-hand experience on the further optimization of the design and construction of the scanning micro-Laue facility on the superbend beamline with improved spatial resolution and multiple functions for simultaneous chemical fluorescence mapping and in-situ microstructural evolution studies.The micro-Laue diffraction beamline at Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility will provide a versatile and powerful tool for the orientation and strain/stress mapping combined with phase identification with micron-sized spatial resolution.展开更多

[Method ] X-ray diffraction patterns of rhubarbs in different production areas of Qinghai were obtained by X-ray diffraction analysis, and then its similarity analysis was also investigated. [ Result] The content of chemical components in rhubarbs from different production areas had differences, but its diffraction patterns and diffraction peaks had certain fingerprint characteristics. [ Conclusion] X-ray diffraction method is a fast and effective method for identifying rhubarb and other Chinese herbal medicines in different production areas.展开更多
