Methodological quality(risk of bias)assessment is an important step before study initiation usage.Therefore,accurately judging study type is the first priority,and the choosing proper tool is also important.In this re...Methodological quality(risk of bias)assessment is an important step before study initiation usage.Therefore,accurately judging study type is the first priority,and the choosing proper tool is also important.In this review,we introduced methodological quality assessment tools for randomized controlled trial(including individual and cluster),animal study,non-randomized interventional studies(including follow-up study,controlled before-and-after study,before-after/pre-post study,uncontrolled longitudinal study,interrupted time series study),cohort study,case-control study,cross-sectional study(including analytical and descriptive),observational case series and case reports,comparative effectiveness research,diagnostic study,health economic evaluation,prediction study(including predictor finding study,prediction model impact study,prognostic prediction model study),qualitative study,outcome measurement instruments(including patient-reported outcome measure development,content validity,structural validity,internal consistency,cross-cultural validity/measurement invariance,reliability,measurement error,criterion validity,hypotheses testing for construct validity,and responsiveness),systematic review and meta-analysis,and clinical practice guideline.The readers of our review can distinguish the types of medical studies and choose appropriate tools.In one word,comprehensively mastering relevant knowledge and implementing more practices are basic requirements for correctly assessing the methodological quality.展开更多
This study evaluated the reduction effect of non-point source pollution by applying best management practices (BMPs) to a 1.21 km^2 small agricultural watershed using a SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model....This study evaluated the reduction effect of non-point source pollution by applying best management practices (BMPs) to a 1.21 km^2 small agricultural watershed using a SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model. Two meter QuickBird land use data were prepared for the watershed. The SWAT was calibrated and validated using dally streamflow and monthly water quality (total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN), and suspended solids (SS)) records from 1999 to 2000 and from 2001 to 2002. The average Nash and Sutcliffe model efficiency was 0.63 for the streamflow and the coefficients of determination were 0.88, 0.72, and 0.68 for SS, TN, and TP, respectively. Four BMP scenarios viz. the application of vegetation filter strip and riparian buffer system, the regulation of Universal Soil Loss Equation P factor, and the fertilizing control amount for crops were applied and analyzed.展开更多
BACKGROUND:Cerebral stroke is a disease with a high disability rate and a high fatality rate.This study was undertaken to assess the risk of stroke associated pneumonia(SAP) in patients with ischemic stroke using A2DS...BACKGROUND:Cerebral stroke is a disease with a high disability rate and a high fatality rate.This study was undertaken to assess the risk of stroke associated pneumonia(SAP) in patients with ischemic stroke using A2DS2 score.METHODS:Altogether 1 279 patients with ischemic stroke who were treated in our department from 2009 to 2011 were retrospectively analyzed with A2DS2 score. A2DS2 score was calculated as follows:age ≥75 years=1,atrial fi brillation=1,dysphagia=2,male sex=1; stroke severity:NIHSS score 0–4=0,5–15=3,≥16=5. The patients were divided into three groups according to A2DS2 score:620 in score 0 group,383 in score 1–9 group,and 276 in score ≥10 group. The three groups were comparatively analyzed. The diagnostic criteria for SAP were as follows:newly emerging lesions or progressively infiltrating lesions on post-stroke chest images combined with more than two of the following clinical symptoms of infection:(1) fever ≥38 °C;(2) newly occurred cough,productive cough or exacerbation of preexisting respiratory tract symptoms with or without chest pain;(3) signs of pulmonary consolidation and/or wet rales;(4) peripheral white blood cell count ≥10×109/L or ≤4×109/L with or without nuclear shift to left,while excluding some diseases with clinical manifestations similar to pneumonia,such as tuberculosis,pulmonary tumors,non-infectious interstitial lung disease,pulmonary edema,pulmonary embolism and atelectasis. The incidence and mortality of SAP as well as the correlation with ischemic stroke site were analyzed in the three groups respectively. Mean± standard deviation was used to represent measurement data with normal distribution and Student's t test was used. The chi-square test was used to calculate the percentage for enumeration data.RESULTS:The incidence of SAP was significantly higher in the A2DS2 score≥10 group than that in the score 1–9 and score 0 groups(71.7% vs. 22.7%,71.7% vs. 3.7%,respectively),whereas the mortality in the score≥10 group was significantly higher than th展开更多

The volume percent of eutectic area and eutec...The effect of niobium addition on the microstructure of cast AISI H13 hot work tool steel was evaluated by using EDX analyzer attached to the scanning electron microscope. The volume percent of eutectic area and eutectic cell size and also volume percent of different carbides of new steel, which is heat treated under different conditions, are also determined. The results show that the a niobium addition modifies the cast structure of Nb-alloyed hot work tool steel, and reduces the size and volume of eutectic cells, and increases the maximum hardness of the steel.展开更多
